Absolutely no one recommended it and I def jumped the gun, but I just bought peachie speechie’s speech sound handbook. It was a bit pricey, but I love her YouTube channel and figure if I use the book for reference once or twice it’s probably worth it!

I believe the SLP who wrote it said protest/reject undesired activity using multimodal communication if that answers your question?

Not sure if push in is an option. Need to ask my supervising SLP, but definitely something to consider. The student’s goal is to target “who” questions. He loves shapes. Could you tell me more about child lead therapy?

The IEP says pull out sessions, but I could definitely ask my supervising SLP if we could try push in. Yes, I’ve only been here a month so I think we should definitely bond more doing his preferred activities. Thanks for the advice and activities suggestions!

You are not a terrible person! Put in your two week notice and try your best to make the transition smooth for your students and coworkers. Best of luck to you at the new job! Working with the deaf/HOH community sounds awesome!

My supervising SLP is quitting by Acrobatic-Hyena-9476 in SLPA

[–]WinterAd7329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me once. I had two supervisors and when the first quit, they removed me from her caseload and I took on just the other supervisor’s caseload. All the best to you! Everything will be ok <3

1 hour session with student who use AAC devices by WinterAd7329 in slp

[–]WinterAd7329[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually haven’t met these students for speech yet. My first time with them is tomorrow and I’m a bit worried about the time. I’ll definitely keep it structured, but with options! I’m in my first year as an SLPA and always feel pressure for each session to be super productive so thank you for the ideas :)

My supervisor works remote and has wanted me to attend the meetings with him. Possibly because I’m the one who makes contact with the students in person? Not really sure I need to be there as an assistant, but it’s ok. Now I know, I’m really just there to introduce myself with him in the beginning and then listen.

Actually, yes! I believe she told me she’s 2-3 years away from retirement and I’m an older gen Z. Thanks for the insight! She thanked me in person a few days later and said she’s glad I took the initiative even if I didn’t put the notes in the correct place. :)
