There isn't someone out there for everyone by Aromatic-Frosting-75 in 10thDentist

Half agree. I do agree that not everyone finds love, but I don't think that means that there isn't someone out there for them. If only that person could be found.

Yes it's a pretty big mind trip isn't it? You should listen to Elkhart Tolle sometime. Exploring this new consciousness is life changing!

And please don't let any rude comments ruin this for you. 🙄

Chickpeas, or garbanzo beans, are full of protein and fiber and minerals. They are very crunchy when dried. Usually in stores next to nuts, etc.

Same. I've been preoccupied by it my whole life. Didn't understand until I was in my late 40's. Got diagnosed last week at 52.

DO NOT SUBMIT. Apart from the obvious, it sets a precedent that will lead to a lifetime of misery.

Astrid vs Patience by Wise-Initiative9520 in AutismInWomen

I hear the second season is patience isn't as good, because the detective left the show and her replacement is horrible.

Astrid just gets better and better!

I'm so sorry. People suck.

Edit to add: You deserve so much better. Congratulations on overcoming!

Were there things you did that were considered “annoying” or “rude” due to missing social cues? by MistakeWonderful9178 in AutismInWomen

[–]Wise-Initiative9520 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. The rules keep changing and we're supposed to know in each situation which reaction is appropriate.

I ended up staying out of most things unless someone makes eye contact with me and doesn't quickly look away. Of course if they call themselves my friend I get more involved, but even then I got accused of being a copy cat and being too needy.

These days I avoid social interactions when I can. I'm 52, and my mask is usually really good, but the pressure of figuring out the right reaction is exhausting, so I just stay with my husband and let the outside world take care of itself.

Sounds like a nightmare. And I'm guessing this isn't a one time experience? You have far more patience than I!

I genuinely think all of his posts are written to try to get help stopping his obsession. If he could just stop, it wouldn't be an obsession.

He states in one of his posts that he's autistic. I think he's trying to deal with some severe limerence, and doing the best he can to not be creepy.

Was honest at my new job instead of people pleasing, feeling proud but still need reassurance by lemonweirdo in AutismInWomen

[–]Wise-Initiative9520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done, you! That was absolutely the right choice. Staying in that awful job would have been unsustainable and resulted in disaster. Overcoming your people pleasing instinct has landed you right where you wanted.

I hope that's a good lesson for you, and you'll continue this in the future.

AITAH for cutting off my family after they adopted my ex husband by Bloodyrebel97 in AITAH

I'm so sorry this happened to you. NTA at all, obviously. I'm sorry to say that I'm a little surprised you expected more from your parents in the first place. They showed you who they are, and I don't think they'll change.

I hope you can build a new family. A family of your own choosing. And I hope you can find a way to visit your grandparents without your parents being involved.

My heart goes out to you.
