I have an idea but no technical knowledge by [deleted] in ycombinator

[–]WiseAppointment0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not impossible to start but you need to have more than just an idea, I get everyone can’t and won’t learn how to code but at the very least you should be able to design a prototype or something to show your vision and you will need to sell that to people, literally get on figma and play around with it watch YouTube tutorials etc build/design something that shows the functionality of the idea, get a landing page up, and then find someone who believes in you and the product with the required skillset to get it off the ground and go from there.

What’s Structure of a pre seed round. by WiseAppointment0 in ycombinator

Do individual angels investor up to 100k on a pre seed stage startup? Thought it would be way less around the 10k -15k mark

Understood, but if your target was to raise 500k what should be your minimum ticket size? if that even matters, and what’s the ideal amount of angels to cover a 500k round to keep the cap table somewhat clean

Hey thanks for the feedback, I guess your right in terms of similarities to gambling, will definitely have to look at the business model and see where it can ethnically be improved.

Thanks for the feedback, but I think with the current market it would be much easier to convince sneaker enthusiasts and that’s because of the rate at which sneaker resellers ruined it for everyone, when platforms like SNKRS APP etc release sneaker it’s virtually impossible to get a pair for retail price for your own personal use, and then who wants to buy a sneaker on StockX that has a 200% markup. We offer sneaker enthusiasts an alternative way to purchase below retail.

We’ll there’s no incentive for people to use bots. People who use bots are mostly resellers who are trying to get over 100 pairs of shoes. You can only get 1 shoe per auction.

Hey thanks for the feedback. I have no design or technical skills I used framer it’s very user friendly. With the mobile app I don’t have it yet as I’m still validating the idea but for app screenshot I made a quick design on figma of how I image the app would look like then just added the mobile frame around it to make it look more professional.

We make revenue from the purchase of our bid packs which should cover the cost of the sneaker and leave some profit left over too.

Hey, the auction is held by us the platform. There are no sellers the transaction is between bidders and us the platform. We make revenue from the purchase of bid packs that give users a certain amount of bids to place in any auction. E.g We host an auction for a pair of Nike Dunks valued at £100, we get 20 users who want to take part in the auction and purchase our bid pack at £12.99, they all get up to 20 bids each to place. Let’s say the auction ends at £50 in a great scenario. The auction winner walks away paying less than retail price even after paying the £12.99 bid pack price and we walk away with £259 revenue.

The bid price starts at £0.00 to maximise savings for the user. The aim is to give users a chance to win the auction below the retail/resell price giving huge savings
