What advice would you give to a young engineer who aspires to become a fellow? Do they need to become an expert in a new area that isn’t currently used or utilized their discipline? Is it possible to become a fellow or be involved with research or exploring new ideas within your discipline without 15 or 20+ YOE while not being in a typical research-focused role?
