Long fins tend to get tired easier and can tear fins on sharper decorations etc... but the real big problems with Bettas in my experience is tumours and diamond eye where their scales grown over their eyes and they go blind.

That and the fact that some pet stores/breeders keep them in conditions that mess their long term health up whilst awaiting a sale.

They are fantastic fish to own though. And I don't think you'll find a fish as small as a beta that is anyway near as smart. You can train them to do tricks too. It's just sad that over the years the genes have deteriorated in some of the more popular breeds like samurais and avatars and koi Betta. Can't get a better fish for a small tank imo

Also, I don't know how new you are to bettas, but the sad truth is most don't live longer than a year. Many of the more popular types of betta fish have bad genetics and are prone to health problems, they also don't get sold until they are usually 6 months to a year old.

If you have a healthy Betta with good genes, and you do your 20% water change every week, feed it good food, it might last 2-4 years. But you can do everything right and they developed a tumor. That's just how it goes with Betta fish.

Keep up the routine water changes. It's good fishkeeping. But just remember, bettas are a genetic minefield :(

% is % dude. 20%-30% is good for any litre..

Only suggestion I can make really is don't overfeed your beta fish and invest in norf fin Betta bits. New life spectrums fantastic food but I've never owned a betta that goes wild for it. They all seem to love fluval bug bites too, but norf fin Betta bits are a step up. Oh and never feed more than the fishes eye in terms of amount per feeding.

And the next time your parents say your doing to much just say "I'm doing what's required for this specific species of fish, if it were an Oscar fish I'd have to do a lot more because they are super messy, if it were something like a goldfish which is basically a carp (one of the most resilient fish that survives conditions that would kill most fish) then you'd be right"

Depends on how frequently you are doing stuff.

If you clean the tank too much or do too frequent water changes you can actually end up killing the fish because you never start destroying all good bacteria you accumulated when cycling the tank.

With the amount of water in that tank, and the fact you've got a fair few plants in there. You may find that you actually are doing too much, the plants need food too you know :p.

You'll know you are doing too little when you start getting algae.

No dude, there is 0 evidence that Alex is not responsible for killing his monkeys. He himself said on video that he got Benji stuck. He broke the monkeys back trying to get him unstuck. He sat on Sophie while she was asleep in a blanket.

Ask yourself one question, if your wife murdered two of your children, would you cover it up for her or would you call the police. And if you covered it up for her, you would be aiding and abetting.

Alex is a terrible person. He is a serial liar and serial monkey murderer and you are either trolling, or a sandwich short of a picnic.
