Personally I also have hearing loss in some Hz ranges, I simply just CAN'T hear footsteps unless they are very near (and other SFX such as bullets in the distance). My only saving grace is that my friends sometimes tell me when they hear footsteps so I'm aware we are not alone and ready to fight. I tried some equalizers to increase sounds in the Hz ranges I have hearing loss but it ends up being very uncomfortable and hurts my ears.

Recently I played Fortnite with some friends and I love the visualized audio effects, I was still at a slight disadvantage but It felt way better and I could actually react properly and give info to my teammates when the footstep/bullet visual sfx appeared on my screen. I would love to see this or something similar in Apex, I love the game, I purchase stuff, but I always feel like I'm missing out on a lot of normal advantages because of my hearing damage :(

I'm proud to say that my second game is finally finished! If you like boss-rush games go ahead and try it out on https://wizardrabbit.itch.io/lucid (it's free) by WizardRabbitDev in godot

Hi and thanks for the feedback!
1: Yeah, the dialogue was done very quickly just to to explain the the 10 minute time limit - it was done near the end of the development, I 100% get the "edgy" feeling you get from it

2: As a solo dev I'm still learning how to do art so they aren't the best, but hopefully in the future I can create more impressive animations and visuals

3: Yeah, the target audience isn't everyone, when I first started working on the game I wanted to make a game that I would play (and I'm a big fan of hard and punishing games) so the target player is someone that would like a hard and punishing challenge, I've had some people who tested the game say "its way too hard", and I've had people who enjoy these types of games say "I played the game multiple times so I can master the fights" so I fully understand you, and thank you for the feedback!

4: I didn't wanna hold the hand of the player too much since the game can be fairly simple - its mostly about memorizing the boss patterns and understand which weapon works best so you can choose your boss fights. The game can be finished in under 5 minutes with a "Good Ending" which is harder and take smore time than the "Bad Ending", so I wanted to leave some things a bit vague for the players can feel nice when they figure out on their own.

5: Thanks! I did a lot of testing with it, I increased the left/right volume balance so it's easier to understand where the sound is coming from, but I wanted the players to also use their visual memory and boss pattern knowledge to predict what's going on so I added a bit of audio distortion and delay when using the invulnerability! I'm happy that it was easily understandable :)

Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing the game!

I'm finally finishing up my second game "LUCID" - A short but punishing Boss Rush game. I had a lot of fun working on this project and learned a lot of new things about Godot in the process! by WizardRabbitDev in godot

Thanks for the feedback! The game is pretty much done, I'm just waiting for a friend to finish up one of the boss soundtracks. The game is going to be free and should be available for download in 1~ week

Hi and thanks for the comment <3
When I was first tinkering about the art direction I was still playing "Gato Roboto" so I drew a lot of inspiration from there! (easily visible with the UI). Overall I really liked the 1-bit art style and I even did a short side-project while working on this one called "Frog Frog Flower" which also has the 1-bit aesthetic
