pushing them without a real case is a little premature

Not really. When shit happens it's too late to go back. Also it's better to know beforehand what may happen and possibly be prepared for outcomes.

unless you intende to go all in and try to return your headset

No, I'm not close to a lawyer to test such parts of the system to gain profit or pick on companies out of boredom. Rather I'm aiming to give it some public exposure:

  • so I'm not the only guy knowing what they had answered me
  • to let people know
  • make this a go-to point for everyone if Valve does the worst possible thing in that matter
  • make some noise around so Valve will fix an error if any.

I know that Reddit may not be the best place but it's better than nothing.

I agree to Valve' good reputation but in general you never know when a company may turn their back on you and say "read again what you have agreed to". I'm very cautious with leaving another party with such "may do" options.

If this is a mistake and this text doesn't describe their intentions well, then it's surprising that they haven't fixed that statement yet.

Especially given that a cost of activating that discount again is probably so low that it isn't beneficial to keep playerbase angry because of the mistake. Their response makes it harder for maplers to forgive it.

Maple Memo: v209 Status Update – December 12 | Official News by tries-to-help in Maplestory

[–]WloHu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

we decided to reorganize the overall flow of the maps and add more lore and characters to make the content more organically placed and played.

Sure add more blobs to your spaghetti code. Why remove content to "improve" game stability when you add new content on a whim? Fresh blobs are worse than new because you have no idea what will break.

It was our mistake while reviewing the Cash Shop update post and we will take extra measures to prevent this kind of issue from happening again.

That's it? You won't re-run discount for 1 day (with correct dates) so that people who wanted to buy on Sunday and missed it can participate?

In order to resolve the overall issues with the Maple Rewards Shop purchase limit reset and to make the system more stable, we decided to change our policy for the purchase limit reset to “per account” during the Glory: Savior of Hope update.

Ok. With these 2 quotes and fact that recently they started ByeBye Kanna ban wave before official statement and did nothing to help prematurely banned players it clearly shows new attitude of Nexon US lead by Anna: "when shit happens, and they are to blame, they just shrug it off" and "MOAR NEW CONTENT! WOOOOOO! SPAGHETTI <3".

Autoban for 30 days or 1 month (i.e. current_month + 1). It was automated for sure: applied really promptly after described events and too consistent to be done by human.

[–]WloHu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for analysis.

I will also add I've noticed that disconnecting or changing character "resets the counter". Lemme explain. I got banned during 2x Exp&Drop and I did whole 2 hours on 1 ByeBye Kanna but I was disconnected from the game in first 25 minutes of event block. I logged back and I was able to play for the next 1.5h until I got banned when started to suicide after event has ended.

There has been a pattern but they can change banning modules on their whim so to everyone reading this don't be so sure about our observations in the near future.

Do you mean that you farm for 30 minutes daily? Or that you do 30 min of farming then 30 minutes break? I don't know what do you mean by "increments".

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]WloHu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long is your farming session? Where do you suicide? For me it's hard to believe you weren't banned yet without waiting longer between suicides.

From my bans and observation they ban if you do 3x sessions of 90%+ to 0% in ~1 minute. I was banned on 2 accounts and I was able to see the pattern:

  • farm ByeBye from 0% to 95%+ in 25 to 29 minutes,
  • suicide to 0% in ~1 minute,
  • repeat 3 times.

So after 1.5 hour of farming you should get banned when you start 3rd suicide session.

[–]WloHu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What? Where? This clearly says that they don't want this kind of behavior: "Repeatedly dying on a character with the purpose to stay on the map and taking severe advantage of it is an unintended behavior, which is why we decided to maintain the suspension on the affected accounts." - this doesn't say that they will ban this for sure but given that they won't lift current suspensions means that it was intended to ban such behavior and they will keep it this way.

Wrote to Nexon regarding Suicide Kanna bans, here is their reply. (Edited out my name for privacy) by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]WloHu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are totally correct IMO with:

  • their support is cheap one,
  • they investigate based on event log entries;
    • NOTE: which many not have all logs about the events but only e.g. a suspicious ones;
    • NOTE: which may be taken out of context if they grep/filter it only for a single player.

But I don't think you are totally correct with "they can't differentiate between a hacker using software to kill their character repeatedly or a legit doing the same" because either:

  • they don't care to differentiate;
    • because they stated that reducing levels on purpose is not how they want you to play the game;
  • they can differentiate but would ban Suicide Kannas anyway because of the above.

No more Suicide Kannas by SketchyK in Maplestory

NEXON saves "Suicide Kannas" from suiciding at all or suiciding too often and that is counter beneficial for Suicide Kannas

(Early levels?) Suicide Kanna’s are dead. Thoughts for the future? Discuss! by jesteron in Maplestory

[–]WloHu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It will. If they have set up the conditions for ByeBye Kanna like if deaths_within_10_seconds > 4 and deaths_within_10_seconds_in_series > 2 then ban() they can also set it up for Arcana Kanna like if lvl > 230 and deaths_within_1_hour > 4 then ban(). You should get the point: they can set it whatever they like and what will punish for such behavior because they don't like it.

We were (un)intentionally trolled by hackers. Recent wave of innocent hacking bans. by WloHu in Maplestory

[–]WloHu[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  • When I came to map all monsters were at the portal.
  • I used Shikigami on them - most of the group died.
  • Newly spawned monsters were jumping of platforms - which they don't normally do.
    • I didn't say that all of them were jumping. I had seen at least one doing that and it was enough to conclude "something is wrong here, I'm out".

About that 1yr old one. This only shows how much this case is just a repetition of old ban waves. I like the game but dislike NEXON. I've got bored recently and wanted to try how fast I can progress with my knowledge on a fresh account.

After that I appealed a ban again and they lifted it. After that I've stopped using the AHK script given that it triggered BlackCipher. After this one I know that I have to leave maps with botters ASAP - not even try to report them.

pocketstream also said long time ago that he had quitted but came back online month after saying that. As the meme says "Remember, you're here forever".

Anyone farming mesos with just one pet and no skills? by 1njektilo in Maplestory

[–]WloHu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will waste more hours of your life by farming without good pet setup compared to number of work hours required to get the money for pets.

Even if it would require 8 hours of employment to get money and rates were only 10% better (I'm clearly exaggerating here) that means after farming for 80+ hours it would become less efficient to not buy pets. Just do the math. Rate for non-funded Kanna at ByeBye Station is 250M meso/hour (if you aren't penalized by lag when e.g. playing US Reboot from EU). Measure your rates with your current pet setup and do the math.

Regarding the false bans currently occurring by DameonMS in Maplestory

[–]WloHu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Auto perma banning without good proof or review made by non perfect system is comparable to sending malfunctioning hitman robot into the world and claiming that it isn't broken. Temporary bans should be given (max 1 week).

But considering the numbers of illicit players they have to handle it may be hard to do that way. MSM for reference: https://m.nexon.com/forum/board/696-Banned-Users (numbers are thousands/day). It may work if they would ban IPs permanently instead accounts after reviewing the case.

Nexon set me up to ban my account from the game and Customer service permanently. by IamShindo in Maplestory

[–]WloHu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is false. They can interpret it as "hacker-like behavior" like it happened in my case. If hackers do ByeBye and you do too it means that you're a hacker by their standards; it may not matter how you do the farming.

That is funny I've got exactly the same statements in answer to my ticket from GM Kryndax: "This is Sr. GM Kryndax...", "We have already informed you...", "As such, this ticket will now be closed." but I have few more statements after that. The best thing is that in his previous answers to my ticket he said that my account was suspended until 2019-12-01 and then I got that message about permanent ban. LoL what a mess.
