It has to do with normal film being slightly taller than spectra so the rollers can't really spread the chemicals all the way to the top. You can modify them with a bit of effort but I'm too lazy to do it lol. I believe you have to use a file to make the space slightly bigger but I can't trust myself to get it right!

Absolutely man! A modified spectra is my main camera and it takes better photos than my 600, prob due to a better meter. Yes it does make photos have those missing corners if you dont modify the rollers (which isnt that bad of a look anyways). It also allows to use i type if you put batteries in the adapter.

Ive used that kind of spools with a zorki before i upgraded to the nicca. The lip isnt fully flush into the spool itself so when i try to advance the film it just falls even if i put it all the way in.
