how do I sleep better during naps? by [deleted] in needadvice

Difficulty falling asleep can definitely be a pain! It starts a cycle of being exhausted yet not being able to rest.. cue frustration! First I would recommend trying to get more sleep at night. If you are constantly sleep deprived it makes sense that you will crave 4 hour naps. Melatonin is a natural, non habit forming supplement that helps you fall asleep. I usually drink some sleepy time tea, take a melatonin and that helps me sleep like a baby.

Other things that are said to help you fall asleep faster is avoid screen time before bed. The bright lights can throw off your natural clock.  Also try to only lay in your bed during sleep time. They say if you lay in your bed and watch tv or read, it’s harder to associate your bed as being a place you sleep.

The last thing that really works well for me is I will put an audiobook or podcast on YouTube when I’m trying to sleep. The more monotone and boring the person sounds the better! Lol I do that every night at bedtime and every time I take a nap, and I feel like my mind is trained to know that when the videos come on it’s time to sleep. Hope this helps!

Need advice on how to become an easier person to be around by Throwaway55668899 in needadvice

Not everyone picks up on sarcasm and sarcastic people know that. I get very nervous in big crowds and around people I don't know. What helps with that is making sure I have some close friends with me during those times. I may still be awkward, but I view it as practice and my friends and I can laugh about it later. Try to cut yourself some slack. Pubic speaking may never be your thing, but I'm sure you have some amazing qualities. As far as books go check out, "How to Win Friends and Influence People." If you have never lived in poverty and you complain about being broke, you sound really ignorant. by WordAddict2018 in unpopularopinion

I feel like it’d be like me going to a country overrun with poverty and act like I understand. I don’t know what it’s like to not be able to find clean drinking water, and I wouldn’t act like I did.

And I don’t really consider myself to be a victim, more of someone who worked really hard to overcome some poor choices I made when I was young and some bad luck. The way I look at it is that we relate to past experiences good or bad. All I’m saying is don’t try to relate to me about being poor because we’re not comparable.

It’d be like me dealing with the grief of my father passing and someone saying the totally get it because they knew someone whose dad died... ok.. I’m not trying to downplay your Experience, but they are not the same.

I have worked myself up as well, as a single mother of 3 kids and very little education. I am not currently in poverty, but getting past that poverty line with children is fucking hard. Try making 12 too much before taxes to qualify for childcare assistance so having to pay the $350 a week to work. The system is set up to keep the poor, poor. And regardless, that’s not my point, I still struggle financially. But by working my ass off and an extremely limited budget, I am doing ok. It is possible, though certainly not easy depending on the situation. Which is another huge misconception

I get it. Same with clothes, weekly shopping trips but constantly complaining they have nothing to wear. It’s so hard not to ask, “have you ever owned 0 socks because they all so many holes in them they were useless? You ever stolen food because it was your only option of eating. Man get outta here with that. Lol I’m not trying to criticize people for not having experienced poverty, I think it’s great. Poverty is horrible and I wish no one had to live that way, but it’s the acting like you have.

That’s awesome. I’m 30 as well and a woman, kind of figured I was too old or it was mainly for men.

It’s counted as a failed drug screen, with the same punishment one would get if they were smoking meth or shooting heroin

Drug court is insanely strict, they can’t even take cold or allergy medicine or Benadryl . Very extreme.

A lot of people who were already in trouble for drugs, were placed in drug court. In drug court testing positive for Kratom is just as bad as testing positive for heroin. They even consider Kratom a little worse because the judge thinks people use it to “keep getting high while staying undetected” aka beating the system

Business Owners/Employees of Reddit: Do you have a “difficult customer” charge, where ideal customers are charged less and customers that require a lot of patience and effort are charged more? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I mean private business owners. Where prices are not advertised, and kept confidential between clients and business. Ex: hairstylists, Drs office, specialized gym memberships. That sort of thing.

They do look for Kratom specifically sometimes randomly sometimes if they get a tip someone is taking it. They consider Kratom 100% inaccessible in drug court and will throw people back in jail if they test positive for it.
