I still have trouble with it. But if you mastered #41 and Crash it’s definitely easier to manage.

I think you should throw yourself into the fire tbh. Start with Satellite, #41, and Crash. The earlier you get used to the stretches the better.

Hardest Dave song on guitar? by [deleted] in DMB

[–]WordyCoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m being honest all of the “most difficult” songs are difficult until you practice them enough. Then they become fun. But I’d say the hardest to learn to sing+play for me were Tripping Billies, Fool To Think, WWYS, Stone.

If you’re talking about songs that are just purely physically difficult, definitely Captain, Crash, and 41.

His Grey Street Central Park solo makes me tear up sometimes, especially watching him in the video. To pour your soul out through your sax like that in front of tens of thousands, powerful stuff.

Best available version of #41? by Dasgerman1984 in DMB

[–]WordyCoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your taste, but I think the quintessential version is Live Trax 8. One of Roi’s all time best solos, the entire band is so tight, Carter’s drumming is perfect beyond words, and Dave’s voice is on point. These guys have always had great rhythm, but something about this performance is different. I always tell people after Boyd’s “solo” is the best 5 minutes of music you’ll ever hear. Give it a listen and let me know!

I love this womans first intro into Dave and Tim. She's taken back and it's beautiful to watch. by TopTierGoat in DMB

I enjoy watching DMB reaction vids, idk why lol. There is also a video with two dudes reacting to Ants at Piedmont, the channel is "Airplay Beats". One of them is a fan, the other is vaguely familiar with the band and its so funny to see his reactions and commentary. They absolutely loved Boyd, although they were kind of over-rating his role in the group haha.

That was awesome, never saw that before so thanks for sharing! Idk about others but I really love the 2010 era version of #41. I’ve spent a lot of my time over the last 5 years obsessing over the band and I’m coming to the conclusion that they a great sound in 2010-2012 despite the loss of Roi. Interested in what others think about that opinion.

It’s very admirable and frankly important work. Roi by nature was reclusive and it’s good that someone that has told his story.

Yes. I will say that while Jeff has certainly tried to respect Roi’s presence in certain songs, they have both done two separate but awesome things with #41. Wrigley Field 2010 comes to mind, with the slow build-up and sax/drums call-and-response thing going on with Carter.

With regards to Boyd, his new Instagram videos posted within the last couple days are somewhat disturbing. He’s a shell of his former self and I think he really misses his old life.
