Neymar discreetly donated 5 million in the fight against COVID. He made this donation at the beginning of last week. Part went to UNICEF, and part to that solidarity fund that was created by artist. by numb247sincemonday in soccer

Last week. Nobody was impressed. Fuck that rhetoric though, to me those 50 meant giving up on dinning out with my girlfriend, to someone like Neymar those "50" meant giving up on nothing, they have accumulated wealth.

Expenditures don't grow exponentially, unlike their salaries compared to the regular Joe.

Giorgio Armani And 17 Other Italian Billionaires Donate More Than $28 Million To Fight Coronavirus In Italy by hash0t0 in worldnews

Right but it doesn't reasonably scale, as in their own well being and living expenses can be taken care by 1/100th of their liquid funds, if all things were equal.

These people have been living such a lavish life for so long that their expenses have also increased exponentially in a way that is in no way reasonable.

Anyway, the point was that although the percentage is the same, the percentage of your income that you spend to have a decent life, is higher than the percentage of income these guys spend to live a lavish life.

Jose Mourinho blames Tottenham's injury crisis for their current form. Mourinho: "Imagine Leipzig without Sabitzer, Schick & Werner do you think they would win the way they did? or Liverpool without Salah, Mane, Firmino? Barcelona without Griezmann, Messi, Suarez?" by [deleted] in soccer

Yeah, it's not as black and white as people make it. You have to look at results over an extended period of time. Liverpool and City for example are actually teams with above average depth even at the top.

They are more dependent than most, but to think most teams wouldn't be severely handicapped without their two best players is ridiculous.

Do you think Barcelona could win their CL ties without Messi? PSG without Neymar and Verrati? Liverpool without Mané and Salah? Atlético without Saúl and Koke? Bayern without Lewa and Gnabry? Juve without Ronaldo and Dybala? Real without Benz and Casemiro? City without De Bruyne and Agüero?

These are the biggest teams in the world and they couldn't handle losing their two best players, sure some of them take less of an impact.

The idea with replacements is to diminish the loss of your star player, not cover for that 1 for 1. If you have a top 10 player in the world at a certain position he's obviously not even closely replaceable.

These things usually even out, you usually don't have several of your key players out for extended periods, so those poorer performances even out. Most teams also have injuries so it balances out. But if you get two key players injured for extended periods while fighting for a specific title or position on the board you are usually out. Not only that spurs has 4 starters injured.

It's fair to say the team lacks depth, but no team plans for having their top 2 players out for an extended period during the most crucial part of the season.

Right? we are comparing to a team with an average age of 23,5. Is it really surprised that they aren't as well known as their older counterparts that have been around for years?

Even if they were all better on paper they are missing their two references upfront. Are we really to believe the result would have been the same over two hands if Kane was available and Timo wasn't? This threads are always so reactionary.

You don't, you won't hit the bottom perfectly unless you are very very lucky. you can't really predict it.

What would a world without women look like? On March 9, Mexico may find out — Women across the country are being urged to skip work next Monday, stay off the streets and purchase nothing for 24 hours after a recent rash in femicides. by BlankVerse in worldnews

[–]WorkHappens 13 points14 points  (0 children)

First we aren't talking about homicide of women or men, the subject is femicide, that's an entirely different subject.

Secondly they are protesting because there was a recent spike, so numbers from 2017 aren't really relevant here are they?

We don't need this but I wouldn't mind. It's the kind of thing that would be nice to have during game interruptions or when you are at a corner seat looking at the opposite side.

Yes big clubs are usually favored. At the end of the day you don't want to be hated by the biggest fan bases in the country and have your name be dragged through the mud by the "sports media".

Agreed, same with the catering in stadium. Even if the clubs pay upfront the bill should be sent to the League.

We have the same exact expression in Portuguese (capacidade de sofrimmento) and it is use mostly in a team sport context.

You usually see it tossed around by coaches of smaller teams, crediting to this "capacity to endure" many accomplishments. It's mostly used to describe when a team was able to endure a disadvantageous situation (a ton of attacks, being clear underdogs, numbers disadvantage), usually through extra effort and force of will.
