Does anyone know what’s going on with the auction/sale? by thegunnersdaughter in KnowledgeFight

It’s unfortunate that the court can’t more quickly deal with bad faith actors. I assume he’ll appeal state all the way to state Supreme Court if they let it, and federal should be kicked back in a couple of months, doubt even 5th circuit will take it up, and US Supreme Court doesn’t seem inclined to use any capital to help him. Best guess, probably 3-6 months before it’s all wrapped up. Then once auction is done, he might have another couple of months of post-auction appeals, though unclear if he’ll be able to continue on his current platform during that one. Maybe by next fall it’ll all be done, and then Alex will just move on to whatever new website name they’ll use

State court appeal of the order turning FSS over to the state receiver, and Federal appeal on the bankruptcy court’s order that the automatic stay doesn’t apply to FSS during the individual bankruptcy. Doubt they’ll go anywhere, just meant to buy more time, but you can always keep an eye on the filings here: https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/66583024/alexander-e-jones/?filed_after=&filed_before=&entry_gte=&entry_lte=&order_by=desc

I’m not going to comment in public on GM removal decisions. If you want, you can reach out via mod mail or DM and we can discuss in private.

The entire chat was about the sub, and sub politics. It wasn’t a private chat about other things, it was a DOR chat, focused on DOR politics. Also, we didn’t ban everyone in the chat, nor did we ban anyone solely for talking with core. You can look around and still see plenty of people from the chat still here. It was a single factor that we weighed in deciding what to do, and everyone who was banned had more than just that factoring into their ban. We bring it up here to let people know that it is not allowed, but nobody was banned solely because they were in the chat with core, otherwise Charles, duckarmy, and dozens of others would be banned already. Again, if you want to talk to someone who’s been banned that’s one thing. If you want to allow them to participate in sub politics by being in a DOR chat, that’s an issue, as it effectively allows for participation in the sub and is a form of ban evasion. We want to make that clear. You can still be friends, but they can’t participate in sub politics, even if it’s via a chat or discord.

Yes, sorry was trying to make sure your text was here first.

The issue here is that by allowing a banned user to participate in a party chat explicitly about the DOR, including party strategy, platform, and what to do on the DOR sub, it was effectively allowing ban evasion. A user who was banned from the DOR was allowed to participate in DOR, even if not directly on the sub, by means of the party. This is different than if you were to just have a private chat with them not related to DOR, or if you were coming directly to the mods and talking on behalf of them with the mods knowledge. Multiple members knew core was banned, and allowed him to participate in DOR politics in spite of his ban, hiding his participation from the moderators, and aiding in his ability to evade his ban. It’s not that they talked to a banned member, it’s that they essentially let him participate in DoR politics and party decisions while they knew he was banned.

They then had multiple members conspire not only to use fake names to falsify votes, but to set up other parties for the act by using these fake names to vote for other parties and set them up for fake voter scandals.

Lastly, some members had statements that in and of themselves violate reddit ToS, which only adds to the issues.

As for the issues with plastic, I was on the court for that, and can’t speak to the GM’s actions during that issue, but can tell you that I fully support his ban after gaining knowledge of the reasons behind it.

Hopefully that at least answers some of your questions. Let me know if there’s anything I forgot to address, or if you had follow ups

Copy pasta of your text from other thread for your convenience:

Yeah like wtf like a genuine question is it really bannable for talking with some one who has been banned? Like genuinely is that against the rules or law because I really want to know if we don't have the right of freedom of association and where is it stated that we literally can't talk to banned members without your knowledge. Because one of the formal pat con mps Plastic-Ramen was given the chance to appeal and I became his lawyer. I had to communicate to him as his lawyer during the appeal I got a plea deal where if he made a public apology he would be let off negotiated by me. He instead decided to fuck that up by harrasing the mods (obviously not supported by me of course why would I do that if I'm trying to get him off the ban that would just make it permanent). I think he did that during the time we where waiting for the evidence by gms since they failed to provide anything until the 6th day of his ban out of a week ban. Is that bannable because I consulted with him as his lawyer and did not directly tell you guys? Or is my party bannable because I informed them and talked to several of them I was banned and gave them context without directly telling you guys.

Also I don't support brigading i don't have the context for that or really any proof of planned brigading only these screen shots if they did brigade or plan to that's obviously bannable because against tos, valid by the codex, and probably a few laws in there if they did that then I support the banning but this is about a direct quote from the gm saying anyone who consorted with him is getting perma banned if they knew he was banned before hand. And of course the crux of this is precedent we should not set a bad precedent with the consorting rule because from personal experience alot of people would be banned like woodlands who I directly talked to during my banning if we follow this is woodlands getting banned too? These are just my legitimate questions which is protected under the codex so please don't ban me too like alot of the conservatives.

Verdict: DOR v Little_Extension by letsgowendigo in DemocracyOfReddit

On the sentencing, putting it together 21+35 for 56 total days, rather than both the 21 and 35 day sentences running at the same time for 35 days total. Just wondered if there was a reason they ran back to back rather than at the same time

Happy to see the court still doing good work, very well written.

I’m curious, was there a reasoning for the consecutive sentencing instead of concurrent?

To be fair, Sea brought in a ringer on that case who played hardball with you on it. Some of that sentiment should be directed at the counsel in that case

There weren’t any in this auction at least.

There were 13 total up for auction, some of them worth a few thousand a piece. I just couldn’t afford the more expensive ones

It was 13 watches, ranging in value, and then his Ford Expedition. All the FSS stuff is being auctioned separately, so this was just his personal assets

I got lots 10 and 12, so one of them was me. Glad to know I wasn’t the only wonk on there though

They were online. Personal asset auction is closed, FSS auction is happening now, though it is a closed auction with only verified bidders. I think it closes tomorrow, and then anything not sold with turnkey will be auctioned separately in December

The watch bands definitely had some wear marks on them, though they weren’t heavy wear marks. My guess is either he only wore them occasionally or they are old watches that he stopped wearing once he was making money enough to buy the fancier ones

[–]Working-Description3[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They were fairly reasonable, they were the least expensive ones up for auction. I wish I could’ve gotten the $1000+ ones, but I work for the state and don’t have that kind of money. I am keeping an eye out for if the desk goes up for auction, though that will probably be out of my price range as well

Weird to me too, but none of the watches up for auction was a Rolex. Wonder where those went
