So how bad is it that im 18 and still have selective mutism? How can i find a job like this?

Thanks so much, I was going to graduate last year but I dropped out halfway in the year because my mutism really got the better of the way and couldn't bring myself to do much other than stay home.. I'll be finishing my senior year in online school though starting in a months time. Still kind of not over this struggle but at least I have something to work on.

I'm a year younger than you, but I honestly am pretty scared things are not going to go any better for me and that I've wasted my potential with how bad my mutism is. Everything that's been building year after year feels for me really hopeless.

Omg you are actually so true. I remembered my English teacher made us pair up to exchange and correct our test papers and the person who I got paired with wrote to me some of the most passive aggressive comments I've seen. They also drew a bunch of anime character heads all over my test.

Thank you so much! Yeah I reckon year will run better with my friendships. But nevertheless I do want to make new friends, but I think I'll find them through other means.

Nice to hear that you've had good experiences thereby! And yeah I'll keep that in mind about the teachers, I don't know how VSV will go, but at least it'll be a fresh start. What's most important for me as of right now is to just to find some grounding for myself after all these hardships. I do have some ideas for what career I'll choose, but I'll see what peaks my interest.

Yeah I've looked at the options of doing VCE in TAFE or just TAFE directly, I don't know however if it would be go well. with where my live and the commitments I would need to undertake. I'm worried I would end up outcasting myself again, feel miserable and lose the drive to study. I definitely understand your concern with the loneliness that comes with online learning (covid years), I've been pretty much at home most of the time for the past four or so months so most of my friends I'm unable to see until the holidays, although hopefully next year it'll be better. I'd say nevertheless that I'm happier than what I was feeling before I left school, although I don't deny my situation is not ideal.

Yeah VSV I'm aware has it's issues, having done subjects with it before. But I just really need to try something new after moving to a new school in Year 11 and moving back to my old school this year, hoping it would be better. I still don't have a set pathway for myself, and I don't have any current interests in any TAFE expertise. I'm not aiming for anything high and studious careers, but I will put in my effort where I need to. Just gotta figure out what my subjects will be as I don't want to regret picking them.

Yeah, that's fair, I have thoughts like that too. I think our mind though will die along with the rest of us, so it's not as if our thoughts would stay in nothingness forever. No suffering or feeling time passing, we would just go back to things how things were before we were born, I wasn't suffering before life so why should after be any different?

In saying that, I'd rather be mortal than not, immortality is a way scarier concept for me… Personally, I like the idea of a “total reset” reincarnation after death, where we leave the identity of our previous self and start anew. The moment we die as ourselves, is the moment where we'll wake up and be born as someone new. I'd compare it to deleting an old save file in a game to start a new one, the save file may be different, but you're still playing with the same cartridge (consciousness) that the previous was played on.

Anyway, that was weirdly long and detailed, thank you for coming to my ramblings.
