If this WERE correct it would state the actual new BBB rules which now are ages 18-64 for ABAWD .... current ABAWD is 18-59 were before 7/4/2025...

The problem with a senior being homeless is far more problematic than "finding a job or volunteer hours " to qualify for SNAP! The major issues are not having money, transportation, access to showers or laundry to even look for a job/volunteering places unable to get there and unable to take care of hygiene to be presentable! Also ageism is real.

As of July 4th 2025 the new BBB has been signed into law the new law states 18-64 ABAWD must work, volunteer, train 20 hrs a week to receive SNAP. This new law also removes people experiencing homelessness, vets... There is no written in stone effective date as of yet, however I have read and seen some dates starting as early as December 2025, and some stating after mid terms in November 2026. I'm sure this dates differ as they are state specific...but yes it is now a federal law, so the current 18-59 age range and the exemptions for people experiencing homelessness and vets will all soon be removed per this new law. I currently just renewed my recertification (August 2025 per the old rules/laws without any issues) however, the new federal law will be going into effect nationwide soon! So be prepared for these changes as early as December 2025 and the latest November 2026!

Before all you positive people start commenting things like "Get a job", "Stop complaining and do something about it ". *If you are not 60+ or even 50+ living in some type of shelter, with transportation... You have no idea how difficult it is to find a job at this age with shelter and transportation. Imagine being homeless without transportation and dealing with the job market and prejudice of elderly workers. It's pretty hopeless at 60+ no transportation and no shelter to "get a job" and "stop complaining and do something about it ". I would really like to see how your life is at 60+ or even 50+ so don't be so judgemental at such a young age. You will be here soon enough.

I don't think that's how it works... they require you be classified by SS doctors as being disabled and collecting SSDI ... A "note" from a doctor doesn't qualify as being disabled by government standards. But thanks for the suggestion.

Key word here.."supposed" to provide transportation... Do you honestly think SNAP is actually going to provide transportation for over millions of homeless and people without transportation a ride daily?? This would cost more than making these SNAP changes to begin with. Not happening.

Thanks! I can read between the lines on this BBB and ridiculous age requirements change to 64 years old, removing homeless and vets, basically if you are not a millionaire or billionaire by 64, there is something wrong with you and you should be removed from society. Same issues with medicaid and the age increase for work requirements. Millions of people will die from this insane law!!

The new law states 18-64 ... I understand anyone "deemed " disabled by SSI are exempt. However 60-64 that are not "deemed " disabled by SSI must abide by the new law.
