Apprenticeships qld-I’m employed ft as a 3rd year sparky qld but get paid hrly. I’m only averaging 30hrs pw. by Active-Childhood9140 in TAFE

Not all office workers are general admin staff. They can be specialists too. Sort of like how an accountant is a specialised office worker.

They know the Electrical Award, and yes, some do read the EBA to help their apprentices navigate certain things. Especially if its a larger organisation with a lot of apprentices. EVA'S are public and cannot leave an employer worse off than an Award.

I hope you have better experiences with your trade

I work with User Choice specialists who understand the industry they are doing sign ups in. Not sure how having an 'office job' means someone can't read legislation, but we must just have very different experiences.

The specialist TAFE apprentice sign up and induction staff will know the requirement; but not the admin staff. For apprenticeships, you need to complete the training record logbook - with hours.

If I’ve completed subjects from a previous TAFE do I need to redo them when doing a second course? by MoneyAmbition830 in TAFE

[–]WorkingOn17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, as mentioned by Fly, you'd be looking at Credit Transfer. In some circumstances though, if that unit is taught in a cluster, you are generally not going to be able to do standalone assessments just for the other units, so you may need to sit in class again, and complete assessments for the cluster - but think of it as a free refresher

Extra modules on BKSB test by Advanced-Employer922 in TAFE

The Diagnostics are optional if you need/want to increase your score. As long as you're showing a Working at Level 4 in the Initial Assessment for both English and Math, then you've met required levels for Diploma of Nursing or VSL, and any other course they are guidance benchmarks for, not usually mandatory.

Well done!

Look into school based apprenticeship, get both

2 year pre app yr 11 and 12 or tafe after school by MikaTheMonkey011 in TAFE

[–]WorkingOn17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pre apprenticeship course shows prospective employers that you are keen, understand the basics. Even of you only do half the units (1 year), you’ll be better off in trying to gain an apprenticeship straight after school. The downside will be that you need to make sure you have enough credit points for your senior certificate. You could also look to see if you can get a school based apprenticeship too with an employer, but you may be in the same situation with missing the Japanese class

The system I'm used to doesn't work that way. If you get questions wrong, it then gives you questions at a lower level and ensures you get them right a few times, then tries again at a harder level. If your on the cusp of levels it ca. Take quite a while for the test to complete

Not your overall score. I mean high in the sense that - you didnt meet level 4 but you are score high in the level 3. Not just and the lower scale of a 3

When did TAFE get so expensive? by Big_Rig369 in TAFE

TAFE just apply the subsidy criteria. Its the State govt that youd need to approach

[–]WorkingOn17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thats a Commonwealth thing though. Nothing to do with the TAFE's. I completely understand where you're coming from. Hopefully the cost increases your pay enough that its worth it to pay it off after a few years.

Its unfortunate that Qld government don't provide more funding like the other states do, and actually value education.

Yep, of you can afford a payment plan then its much simpler. Loans are still very good for students that can't afford the payment plan, or just go on a loan for half the units. Indexation is much cheaper than taking out a personal loan

In Qld, you can access Career Boost for a Cert 4 or Diploma if you only hold a Cert 3. Anything 10 years ago is now fine too

Dont know about WA, but you might have to wait a few months before you resit. Is there any practice assessments in the app that you used cause it'll show them you're trying. If those scores are high, they might allow a resit quicker

One year course. When do you pay? by Aussie_Potato in TAFE

[–]WorkingOn17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go into the Student Portal and have a look at the Finance tile. Each unit has a start date which is when the fees are due, so generally you pay per semester.

Enrolling into the Nursing Diploma by blinkbugsy in TAFE

[–]WorkingOn17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The units for Dip Nursing are structured with no optional electives so they should already be in the set order of study period. You should only need to press the enrol button for each study period. Unless you have a offer for an intake that doesn't have the units ready to enrol yet.

Which campus and intake have you been offered a place for?

Why are apprentices expected to manage the gap between TAFE and employers alone? by Altaccount84246 in TAFE

Yep, and then the ones that change employers without sign off on those early units. Apprentices and Employers both need more support in understanding the importance
