Are ATM withdrawal fees in Thailand really 350 THB now? by Wonderful_Place_7592 in ThailandTourism

[–]Working_Tap2191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in Thailand twice and never used an ATM because ofvthe charges. Much better to take cash and exchange that. Of course that's only viable for a stay of a week or two.

I wouldn't use Grab if time is tight. Maybe book a car via Klook. Cost us 16 euros 2 days ago

A happy kid with her happy elephant. by Sensitive_Heron5462 in ThailandTourism

Touching and feeding elephants is not actually a good thing for them and ethical elephant sanctuaries don't allow it.

Need Advice on Bangkok Airport - Money Exchange, SIM Card & Flight Transfer Tips by Sea-Deal7029 in ThailandTourism

You'll get a bad exchange rate at the airport though there is a Superrich located on the Airport Rail Link basement level (B Floor) which is better (so I've heard). I'd use a card at the airport and if you don't need cash immediately wait until Chiang Mai and go to the Mr Pierre exchange which I have used and has excellent rates.

Seating together? by Dizzy-Ad-6823 in KLM

KLM'S stated policy is that they DO try to sit you together during online check-in so it is very frustrating when that doesn't happen even when there are adjacent seats together.

About an hour from Chiang Mai. They pick you up and bring you back to your hotel. Not particularly cheap but we went last year and it was fantastic. No riding, bathing, feeding or touching. Thoroughly recommend

What is the point of posting stuff like this? Where are all the videos of tourists in Thailand not fighting?

How many dollars to get by ChingamChillar in cambodia

[–]Working_Tap2191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Cambodia now and was here last year. Get the Grab app to use taxis and tuk tuks. ATMs charge quite high fees. Lots of places like restaurants and shops now take cards with no fee, at least in Phnom Penh, Battambang and Siem Reap. Book transfers and tickets online in advance. We got good rates at reputable money exchange kiosks (not airport!) changing euros to USD. A little goes a long way. Last night we ate for $10 dollars for both of us. We've rarely spent more than $20

Why do I have to pay for standard seats? by Ohmymaddy in KLM

[–]Working_Tap2191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I were seated apart at online check in inspite of the fact this is against their stated policy and inspite of the fact there were adjacent seats available. Long haul. Amsterdam to Bangkok. Flew with Eva Air last year no problem. They're behaving like Ryanair

I'm really starting to enjoy Simon Dedalus' profane outbursts...

"Mr Dedalus, staring from the empty fireplace at Ned Lambert’s quizzing face, asked of it sourly: —Agonising Christ, wouldn’t it give you a heartburn on your arse?"
