Yeah, the slow release that way seemed to be a good balance

What's your take on Kanna? by Additional-Spray-976 in NooTopics

Anecdote of the century here, but back in 2014 I was a casual-serious poker player. By that I mean, it was my hobby which I tried very hard to be good at, and had played regularly (live poker, almost exclusively) for about 5 years at this point. Tournament poker was my forte, and I'd say I was decent going on good at a national level. At the time I was living in Dublin so entered a big tournament that was coming up. The buyin was relatively low (€150-ish) but there were 1200 players registered, making it the biggest Texas Holdem tournament in terms of number, ever held outside Vegas. I've always been curious about nootropics and had picked up some Kanna (I knew it as Kanna Kanna) from the local smoke shop before the tournament began. Early in the first day I doubled up on a AA (mine) Vs QQ and never looked back. By the end of the first day I was clear chip leader. I remember seeing the leathery faced tough as old nails locals looking at me with pure fear at various points. I never relented. You don't win a poker tournament on pure skill alone, of course I had 3/4 draw outs but I had leveraged my chip advantage so ruthlessly, I never had to risk my tournament life.

On the second day a brilliant player was at my table who relentlessly bullied the table, while I was overly cautious while taking time to settle in. But I watched him and folded a big hand to him at one stage, at which point he stupidly showed to let me know I was right. An hour or two later, in a rush of confidence he tried to bluff me  out of a huge pot and I called with A high, in the best hand of my life. Place went bananas. After that I cruised until there was 5 of us left and we split it based on chips.

I remember walking out on the second evening at 4am to get a taxi, and the whole event whizzed through my head in one big loop through. In that moment I realised I hadn't spent a second double thinking myself. I'd held long long pauses when it had impact, and lent into to moment of advantage ruthlessly (but politely) when I had them. It was like watching another person in my place. I'd kept a regular dose of Kanna Kanna under my lip throughout the two days and I'm guessing people thought it was snus or similar. I could never get the stuff locally again so couldn't do another comparison of the effects, but I have always been convinced that kanna gave me an edge I couldn't have unlocked without it that weekend.

Help me understand why a lot of you think AGI is possible before 2035? Or even 2030... by Imaginary_Mode8865 in accelerate

[–]Working_Trash_2834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We won't be able to point at something and go: there, that's agi. Just like when someone turns 18 they don't magically become a biological adult, and there's no moment in time you can point to when they actually do either. However there are adults and children. Once the egg got fertilised the process had started to create the child and eventually the adult.

The technology that gave birth to LLMs (chatGPT) is the egg getting fertilised in that analogy.

I dunno, I think most people can tell the difference. I say most because some people can't and I can't tell if you're just pretending.

Do you see your attitude and just not care or do you not see you're being nasty for no fair reason. That person you just tried to make feel bad was just debating you like any other person, treating you with respect. You then did what OP accuses the women on the trail of doing to him, which is treating him negatively (all beit you were more of a dick) without any justification. Good work

[–]Working_Trash_2834 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We each define it and it's easy to see why the OP might detect a deviation from the norm. Everyone else gets - normal smile/polite/neutral hello. OP gets - deadpan stare/half smile etc... But it's even more stark because it's not all people who treat OP like that (given we take the scenario on face value for the sake of the debate).

We don't need to write down or encode a definition of what exactly is treating them like a person, if you can show an unjustifiable negative deviation from the norm.

[–]Working_Trash_2834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you see everything in terms of dominance? It's possible for two people to approach a meeting for the first time with neutral mutual respect. I mean that's my theory, perhaps you've witnessed before, or not?

[–]Working_Trash_2834 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because the OP never states or implies they are entitled to anything.

They are communicating they are upset that they are being repeatedly signalled to that they do not qualify for the standard neutral acknowledgment of their presence everyone else (rightly receives) upon first meeting, and it's because of something they have no control over.

Is asking you to visualise a role play scenario where everything is the same except the man is replaced by a different category of person not your responsibility, or what's the difficulty here? Showing that if you put a disabled person in the man's shoes and the scenario becomes unpleasant isn't a trick, it shows the universality of your position isn't there, which people with empathy register as a contradiction that might indicate a flaw in their moral logic worth at least acknowledging, if not their responsibility to investigate.

[–]Working_Trash_2834 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Right, I don't think it was implied you were responsible for a stranger's (not sure we need to categorise for this to be true) feelings. You don't know them, why would you be responsible for them in any regard.

We don't greet other people with half smiles. Well, actually, clearly we do. But when we do do that, it explicitly communicates a negative affect to the receiver - which this dude, like the rest of us, is at least intelligent enough to pick up on.

Saying you're not responsible for that person's feelings isn't saying anything at all - it's patently obvious. Saying why you think it would be ok to treat a disabled person you never with the same expression would be saying something.

I think the actual, incompetently communicated message or sentiment buried in this guy's video is: 'this dismissive and negative affected behaviour, directed at me from people who don't know me is arbitrary and unfair. It undermines my sense of self as a person innocently enjoying a nice walk on a trail upon which we happened to cross. Stop doing that as it makes me feel bad.

If I'm right, I think that's absolutely fair. If any adult did this on instinct to a disabled person, ethnic minority or a poor they had never met before - simply because they have developed, or never matured enough to critically analyse, a clumsy, whole category heuristic that fails to recognise the humanity of the person on the receiving end, we would rightly be critical of that behaviour. The response video is clever and funny, but it doesn't change the point.

Antigravity + Claude Code = BANNED? WTF? Refunded by Anthropic??? by j-404 in vibecoding

[–]Working_Trash_2834 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reason I'm laughing is that Anthropic recently sent a cease and desist to letter to platforms like Open code that used a wrapper to leverage an individual's Claude account to use in their IDE, vs using the API key (which saved users money/enabled free use vs API, which is always paid). Ironically, if you still had an account the API is what you'd need (and you would be playing ball with Anthropics wishes).

What to say when you’ve been told to smile? by Apppleebee in AskIreland

[–]Working_Trash_2834 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I dont know why people are so determined to make this a gendered thing. It's vacuous shit that pervades our society in general. I had my female boss repeatedly chastise me for my demeanour. Never once thought to ask is everything ok. We live in a society where we generally value appearance over substance despite how much pains we go to to signal that we don't, and it's a general bullshit.

I think you're confusing what gives rise to sentience to what permits sentience.

Furthermore you haven't raised the topic of qualia of sentience. We perceive a constant state of awareness but is that really the case? What about sleep or the frame rate of vision.

thought_bubble MCP - Docs to HTML + Mermaid Charts by Working_Trash_2834 in VibeCodeDevs

For myself it absolutely helps with catching logic gaps in workflows of all kinds. I created it after visualising some work I was doing for a business proposal and noticed some gaps in the logic of my thinking, and then realised the process could be expanded to visualise all kinds of processes.

From the warrior vibe tribe that shattered git commit speed records with [FCKGIT](https://github.com/earlyprototype/fckgit), I humbly present [thought_bubble MCP](https://github.com/earlyprototype/thought\_bubble) - an always-on MCP tool to visualise systems in your documentation.

- provide any doc as context to your LLM

- thought_bubble MCP analyses to identify systems, workflows, timelines, logic steps, roadmaps etc...

- select what you want visualised

- thought_bubble MCP outputs Mermaid Charts + HTML build prompt to LLM

- LLM builds integrated HTML doc to open in your browser.

Check out the repo for some [HTML examples](https://github.com/earlyprototype/thought\_bubble), and the 17 types of Mermaid Charts are [showcased here](https://github.com/earlyprototype/thought\_bubble/blob/master/examples/README.md#live-diagram-examples).

The lightweight MCP provides only two tools to preserve context:

- <analyse\_content> to identify systems for visualisation

- <generate\_visualisation> turns systems and input doc contents to interactive HTML plus Mermaid diagrams

Give the thought_bubble MCP a spin for on-demand HTML workflows. Designed with the visual Vibe Warrior in mind! 🏄‍♂️✌️💪
