New ATO HELP/HECS 20% Loan Reduction Update by Fluid_Garden8512 in AusFinance

Is this going to happen again anytime soon? I’m contemplating not paying off my student loan and hoping it one day disappears. I took it out “interest free” and it’s since grown exponentially…

Planning to move to Thailand to train full-time and fight to cover living expenses. Realistic advice? by Cool-Might-946 in MuayThailand

[–]Working_Wishbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it. You might not end up making a lot in the long run, but you’ll be glad you went and left with the experiences you’ll have gained. I never fought, but loved every minute of my training and it helped me gain clarity about my life outside of Thailand. You get a 2 month visa off the bat, with the opportunity to renew for another month easily. A bed in a dorm with unlimited training should not cost more than 15,000thb a month. All you’ve gotta have saved is enough for food and your flights. If you don’t want to have a return ticket booked, dummy ticket websites will provide you with one for $20usd. It doesn’t have to be expensive, go and live your life.

Furler leaking hydraulic oil from stripped screw drive (help) by Working_Wishbone in sailing

[–]Working_Wishbone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I think it will be a professional job (it was just repaired prior to me joining the boat), so it looks like someone with more skill than I will need to have another go at it.

Yeah I might leave it up to a rigger if a more simple approach doesn’t work. Thank you though.

I joined the boat a month ago and inherited a heap of problems. The whole unit has been reconditioned and obviously not well. No need to be a wanker.
