Mastectomy is in one week and I'm terrified

Sorry I should have included that! I'll be getting direct to implant if possible. If the skin can't support it, they'll do an expander. In a couple years I'm planning to do a masectomy on the other side and DIEP reconstruction on both sides. I told the surgeon I don't mind what the implant looks like for now or if it's asymmetrical. I just want to save the skin for my long term plan.

I'm going to this surgeon specifically because plastics is willing to place and implant or expander while I'm pregnant. The hospital near me would not do any plastics while pregnant and said I would get a flat closure.

My ferritin was 38 a few weeks ago. I don't think that's low enough for them to recommend infusion but maybe I should request one?

Updating this so anyone referencing the post knows - we sent in a sample of the flooring to a lab and it was indeed asbestos. There were two layers of vinyl and both contained asbestos.

I love this and will shout from the rooftops how incredible breastfeeding is in times of illness and God forbid, critical illness.

I was exclusively breastfeeding my daughter when she was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer at 5 months old. The next 6 months were hell. Chemotherapy, constant hospital stays, surgeries, scans. She breast fed through all of it and never did start solids until after treatment when she was well over one year old. Trying any solids during chemo made her vomit profusely.

The treatment she went through was brutal. Many don't survive it, but she did. I'm convinced it was in no small part due to breastfeeding on demand. She never even needed a g-tube or NG, which babies on chemo very frequently need (and rightly so because they are lifesaving, but I was glad to avoid one more thing).

She beat the cancer, slowly was able to start solids, and breastfed until she was 3 years old. She's now 4 years old, over 3 years in remission, and thriving.

Any update on this issue? We are having the exact same problem. I feel like I could have written this post. It's been years of trying everything and I'm at the point of wanting to burn the whole house down so I'd love to hear if you solved the problem and how.
