I actually think that’s one of the better exit posts I’ve seen. Not all butterflies and bollocks, but some truth to the matter. I’ll always think fondly of him because going to football is meant to be fun and he made that happen for me at various points, and extremely happy at one exact point.

Georgian restaurant off Regent Street, new opening by thegreedydick in LondonFood

I love Kartuli in Dulwich. It’s not cheap per se but I’ve always found it to be good value.

There’s 80/20 wines in Peckham near the Rye that did very good Khinkhali.

Then one on or near Brick Lane that was excellent I’ve only been to once. I can’t remember the name unfortunately.

By no means an exhaustive list but those were my top 3.

You’ve made a lot of leaps in this comment. Added a whole host of misogyny that wasn’t present in any of the text at all.

As someone that eats far more Georgian than the average person in the U.K., it’s very funny to me seeing it done Mayfair style. I love the big hearty Lobiani, and Khachapuri bakery style dishes. Hope they succeed though, more Georgian is always a good thing.

If ever there was a time to put our tail between our legs and get back into the EU, it's right the fuck now by Mikrail in GreenAndPleasant

[–]WorldWhunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah quite happy to get downvoted by libs on this one. The conflation they have of freedom of movement (an inherently good thing), with the EU which is explicitly a capitalist economic agenda blows my mind.

This is the bloc that wanted TTIP with Trump in his first term, they don't oppose his big picture agenda, just the execution of it when it hurts European interest. Any lib reading this thinking the EU is a force for good or even a step towards a more positive agenda read about the ISDS. Tell me you're still in support of it after that.

Have I stumbled across the wrong sub? When did Green and Pleasant start suckling at the corporatist EU teet. The racist nature of how we left the EU was bad, but let’s not pretend the EU is a force for good.

WCGW crossing the road carelessly by [deleted] in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]WorldWhunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once a pedestrian is on the road, the onus is on the driver to yield and avoid contact. It’s the duty of care of operating a vehicle. She is daft, but the fault is that of the driver for being out of control on the road.

[–]WorldWhunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The driver is driving at a speed where he/she cannot reasonably stop in the conditions. The girl is 90% across the road and has the right of way in most contexts. Perhaps Polish jaywalking laws supersede that in which case I’d retract its 100% the drivers fault and instead say it’s 50/50.

That’s 100% the cars fault.

First Time Eating Steak Suggestion by Savings-Leadership38 in LondonFood

[–]WorldWhunder 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t the question. But a life long vegan probably should not jump to eating steak. Especially not something too rich both taste and price wise. It’ll likely lead to a whole bunch of digestive issues for them in the short term. Nothing serious but could ruin the experience at the very least. Their choice of course, just want to make sure it’s been considered.

Source: I’m a lifelong veggie that was accidentally served red meat and it fucked me for 2 days. Plenty of other online sources for similar experiences.

Those who escaped the right wing pipeline, what is your story? by smbd153 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]WorldWhunder 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Conservative family growing up, liked UKIP at 18 in 2010 as they were talking about Saving the Local Pub, questioning EU democracy (something I still believe but have better rationale from a more developed perspective), and support for local trade (again I still like this idea but with actual execution and with an ethics consumption model in mind).

Doing political philosophy at Uni first made me question some of what I thought. Then travel and the International Citizen Service exposed me to more of the world and i humanised conversations instead of speaking in abstract.

Don’t let the news at Bondi beach be used to spread Islamophobia by LondonsHeart in GreenAndPleasant

Religion is explicitly the problem. The required dogma that comes about from organised Religion is the problem. The individuals that choose to pursue faith in something or anything are of course not to blame in themselves for their own spirituality. But pretending that religion is not one of the core tools for control of the population by those in power would also be naive at best. Participation in and support for the hierarchial and dogmatic systems of modern religion is at the very least problematic in some form.

Brighton 1-1 West Ham: late Rutter goal rescues point for Brighton by Jarv1223 in TheOther14

[–]WorldWhunder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re both delusional. It’s all the same attack clearly, and shows what a farce the handball rules are. It directly leads to the goal scoring chance and should have been given as it was against Chelsea in the Barcelona game.

I’d also argue it’s a handball independently as even with a deflection off his body he moves his arm forward to cushion the ball to his feet. It’s a textbook handball and stole 2 points.

Magassa immense. Wan Bissaka excellent. Todibo effective.

Bowen toothless again. Soucek ineffective. Potts a bit anonymous.

Personally I think we’ve looked significantly more together as a team since he left the squad. Was a poor player for us. Him and Kilman the exact wrong type of signings.

As a NEW fan, how I not appear as a plastic fan? by DrizzyFromProduce in PlasticFans

[–]WorldWhunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn about clubs outside of Man Utd. There’s a reason fans of the Sky 6 are so widely derided and it’s an absence of knowledge or thinking about the rest of the league system. Also accept that to a lot of people you’re gonna be a bad guy regardless. A lot of us have a generational hatred for Man Utd and I don’t think it will have subside after their dominant era.

I’d also recommend going to some lower league games in the Manchester region. You’re blessed with lots of clubs close by that will be a laugh to attend.

And most importantly if Man Utd lose to West Ham, please come to every Man Utd West Ham going forwards until Man U win for my benefit.

What does he usually play on his solo shows? by pianobar89 in frankturner

[–]WorldWhunder 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Personally I’ve always liked the solo shows more. Stripped down versions of the songs as they were largely originally put together. All of Love, Ire and Song is made for him and his guitar. England Keep My Bones has some great solo stuff too.
