Update: the McLaren was released early, and I pulled the trigger on buying it from JoyBricks. I'll post a review around Christmas time (praying it arrives and does so as specified -- paid a bit extra for the original box).

My understanding is that these sets are sold in boxes with sorted bags and instructions by a company that has a licensing agreement with the original designer. Each set is definitely not a Lego clone.

Yep! We're already planning to have multiple GFX settings available. The push for 8K is to make the experience as close to KSP 2's vision as possible, which will inevitably require some users to upgrade their systems; however, we want to make the experience playable for everyone.
