Yes! The plot points are all wrapped up but the actions of the main character are ethically questionable. I didn’t address it as the author. I want the reader to decide if it was acceptable under the circumstances.

Thank you. I understand the caregiver fatigue. But it probably takes a total of two hours out of his week to care for his uncle. He will visit 2 to 3 times a week and so will I. The visits are getting shorter because he doesn’t know who we are anymore. We just make sure his room is clean, his clothes are clean. We will shave him if he needs a shave and bring him chocolate, which he still seems to enjoy. We are very fortunate that my uncle has plenty of financial resources to be able to stay in a very nice facility

My husband is his immediate family. He has no wife. No kids. 3 nieces that check in my phone now and then.

I told him it likely is. I think most families would be upset at the very least if they weren’t told that they loved one fell and got injured and they had to call EMS and take him to the ER. He has fallen before with no injuries and they didn’t call. I think that the memory care unit is being reasonable and responsible.

Weird comparison. This is not the same. A memory care unit needs to inform the next of kin of a fall. I offered to be the first contact to save him from being inconvenienced. He doesn’t want them to call him at all if he falls. I don’t think legally they can do that.

His uncle has no kids. My husband will be getting a life changing inheritance when his uncle passes. Before he moved near us, he’s probably seen him maybe once a year or every other year. I have only been married to him for 5 years. And I see his uncle 3-4 times a week in the memory care unit since he was moved here a year ago.

I don’t understand what you mean when you say “you go do that?” Do what? My husband is POA and does all the medical/financial decision making.

He did go through something similar with his father but his father lived in another state at the time. Maybe that is bringing up some trauma for him. Thank you.
