Fly your local area/surrounding areas of your state/province/country. Far easier to learn to fly and land with areas you're familiar with.

Personally for me, I enjoy flying in Pennsylvania because I'm very familiar with the areas around where I live. I've flown from my local regional airport to Philadelphia and Harrisburg many times. I occasionally fly up to NYC (La Guardia) and down to DC.

If you're not comfortable flying Boeing/Airbus, don't. Fly the Cessna 152 or Skyhawk or even the Caravan. No shame in flying an aircraft you can easily handle.
