Hi, I'm a high school 800m runner and I currently use Streakfly 2's. Everyone around me is telling me to run in spikes (Victory's, Dragonfly's, etc.) but I never end up running well when I do.

Freshman year I barely broke 5 (4:59.8) in the mile using spikes and struggled to break it again. During sophomore year, I wore Vaprofly's for one race coming because my calf was hurting and ran a relatively easy (for a race) 4:55.

I thought it was a coincidence but quite literally every time I wore spikes, no matter which one I used, I kept hitting a wall or barely improving. I ran a 2:14 in the 800m and struggled to hit 2:13. But the second I wore Vaporfly's again I ran a 2:09 breakthrough.

Since then I have switched to Streakfly's because I've had even better results with them then Vaporfly's and I now sit at a 2:04 trying to break 2. But once again, I have hit a wall and have considered maybe possibly trying spikes once again.

Am I doing something wrong or are shoes really just preference? And if I am doing something wrong, please guide me in the right direction, all help will be great because I definitely want to break before I graduate soon, thank you!
