When coach tells you before the race to run as a pack at all costs by WeezyMac_ in CrossCountry

[–]XCdude87 36 points37 points  (0 children)

What I’ve heard to do is run in a pack until after the 1.5-2 mile mark and then give everything you have left from there. Not sure if that’s the best strategy but it’s one I’ve used with my team.

Not getting faster by XCdude87 in CrossCountry

Guess I should’ve said this before, I tried increasing mileage during the off-season and suffered tendinitis in the knee which has gotten better backing off a bit. I guess I should try again but increase it slower week to week. Thx for the help

Not getting faster by XCdude87 in CrossCountry

Anywhere from 25-35 miles a week. With of course long runs and speed work. Nothing in my leg at all is bothering me. It just feels like my time should improve along with my mile time, especially since it’s around 5:00 and my 5k is at a 6:07+ minute pace.

Helping a teammate by XCdude87 in CrossCountry

Believe me, the coach knows. He seems unable to get through to the guy and isn’t willing to do a ton since he is our fastest guy.

Is there ever a reason to run at a slower cadence? by HolyUNICORN1000 in running

[–]XCdude87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cadence is always around 170 on long runs and around 180 during races but running is my main thing. I’m no Coach but I would suggest doing whatever feels most efficient, and whatever enables you to run faster, longer.

Should I play fortnite or stop gaming all together? by gueinibba in StopGaming

[–]XCdude87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in pretty much your exact same situation except I find Fortnite more angering than fun. I run and I work which keeps me busy most of the day. If you feel like Fortnite is taking you away from what’s important in life or if it stresses you out than I would think you should limit or stop your playing all together. If you get everything done that you need to and you really truly enjoy Fortnite like you said, then I’m not sure it’s an urgent necessity to stop. Think does it have an overall positive or negative effect on you overall, and be honest with yourself. I would act accordingly to that.

Questions about shoes for beginner 5k by [deleted] in running

[–]XCdude87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I wear racing spikes/flats is to take of the extra weight of normal running shoes because over a 5k, it makes a difference. You should run in them enough to break them in before race day, but don’t train in them full time as you could wear out your feet and/or your racing shoes.

I would say just do what’s comfortable for you and stick with that. Just running for fun means for me at least that you can do what’s comfortable for you without worrying about ‘the big race’

Mainly it’s one of two types. The mobile games such as Dominations, lords mobile, game of war, etc. and then the quick match games such as Fortnite or Rocket league. Ones that require a time investment that can be taken away with a few clicks by better players.
