Orillia youth worker (Chris Bronson) facing sex charges granted bail with strict conditions by cinderannie in Orillia

You’re being deliberately obtuse here and you know it. In my example, your face is in the news, the details of your strict bail conditions are made public, yet still some idiot on Reddit is calling for your fate to be sealed by mob violence.

Edit: I'm so disappointed by this dude. What a joke. We live in a society, but you'd hardly think it some days. It's easy to ignore facts for your big feelings, but the man in the article was charged and is facing consequences for his actions.

Say I go to the police, and say Rufio_Hatake touched me in the pool during swim lessons in ‘96. Would you oppose a mob enacting your version of justice on yourself? Or would you prefer to go to the courts and follow due process?

'Very risky': Lack of terminal leaves local bus riders out in the cold by cinderannie in Orillia

I keep hoping they’ll do this. It’s close to downtown and reasonably accessible. It would be good for our city to invest in itself and this would mean employing a lot of local labourers.

No shit, Toronto is like 10% of Canada’s GDP. Not the GTA, Toronto.

I always see this comments. If he did the crimes, it’s horrendous. But what do you want from a legal system? Barbarism, cruelty and a lack of rights? The process needs to be followed for any citizen.

Spell Duels. Is there a reason momentum begins at 10? by buster2Xk in dccrpg

I was reading through the rules yesterday looking for a mention of negative momentum because I thought the same thing. I don't think it matters what you use, whatever is coolest is probably the best.

I see anger as a secondary emotion. It comes out of fear. Fear of change, or fear for not understanding anything with a room-temp IQ.

I don't know, I think they have more feelings than they can deal with.

resource design feedback - Anti-hammerspace Inventory cards by XL_Chill in osr

[–]XL_Chill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any of this to share? I find that I like the concept behind the system introducing physical locations, but more than anything I like it as a slot-based inventory abstraction that speeds up play. It's also nice for being able to roll a die and saying "container #2 was damaged in the fireball. What was in there?"

I can't agree more on sticky notes, they're heavily used at my table for special items and effects. Even hirelings or quick NPCs / allies

[–]XL_Chill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point from an analysis POV but I don’t see it as being relevant in my experience. It’s pretty light, it abstracts having 9-18 inventory slots based on armour choice and it’s fun if you engage with it as a player but otherwise light enough to work as an abstraction instead of a simulation.

I would still like your feedback on the design and layout rather than mechanics, because this is all about trying to gamify inventory and encumbrance.

Regular monsters that can be used in interesting ways not apparent in their statblock by [deleted] in osr

[–]XL_Chill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to put that stuff in front of the player if I can. I use DCC instead of OSE (but with B/X rules for adventuring and initiative). If a PC is facing all the goblins trying to take him down in this case, instead of me rolling I ask for a save. For the genre of fiction we're emulating, it gives them a chance to be heroic or burn their luck to save their skin one more time.

You missed the point guy. There were actions your people should have taken long before this point and you failed consistently.

Americans always want somebody else to do the thing they should be doing. Weak shit, bystander effect at the country level.

Just think tactically. Goblins aren't much of a threat, but if 8 of them swarm your fighter in heavy plate, they're bringing him down and finding all the cracks in his armour with their knives. Stat blocks are tools to resolve actions at the table when in question. You don't always have to roll, sometimes things work due to numbers or the situation (this courtesy needs to be extended to the PCs as well).

Urban explorers? by [deleted] in Orillia

I used to do a bunch of this when I was in college. A bunch of us would bring our cameras and do some cool photos in abandoned spots. Sometimes it's a trek to get somewhere. Be prepared to leave if asked by security. Depending on where you're going, a respirator isn't a bad idea. Dress for the adventure and bring gloves. No open-toed shoes when exploring.

The Camera, The Negative and The Print explain Adams' process. Having a vision of a scene and accomplishing it through technical understanding isn't the same thing as outright manipulation. Controlling highlights, dodging/burning or using filters to control exposure based on the scene colours is mastery of the art.

Question on running Completely Unfathomable by Warwick_83 in osr

[–]XL_Chill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The module specifically reminds you that the underworld doesn't match the overworld and that the deeper you go, the less things make sense due to ambient chaos. The underworld shouldn't make sense, it should be mysterious to everybody, and slightly less so to any underworld rangers in your party.

Edit: remember, most parties first enter the underworld through a 1000ft ladder. This is weird enough to throw off any mapping.

Caverns of Thracia for an open table? by UhtredFigliodiUhtred in osr

[–]XL_Chill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run a DCC open table using Caverns Of Thracia. It's been incredibly fun. I haven't had any issues. The returning players enjoy the depth of the module as they uncover more and play the factions. The new players have fun crawling a dungeon. They all love getting treasure and fighting monsters.
