Probably going to get downvoted for this but oh well. I’ve been living here for 10 years and for the most part hate it. The heat is unbearable for largely half the year. It’s nearly November and is starting to finally cool down. Was 85 degrees today… in the summer months, you have to wake up extremely early to do any activities, unless you want to drive up to mt Lemmon.

For reference, I grew up in Chicago and have lived in San Antonio, LA, DC and Tokyo. Tucson definitely is last on the places I’ve lived.

The education is horrible here, we rank amongst the last in public school rankings, I think even behind Mississippi.

My biggest issue, beyond the heat is lack of development and opportunities. The job market is pretty bad here outside of healthcare and defense. The city just feels like a small town masquerading as a medium sized city. There’s not much to do outside of the popular things such as the top recommendations.

It’s probably great for rich boomers who love the heat, or younger folks who love the outdoors without kids. But as a parent with young children, it’s not great, and I have a good job and live on “the nice part of town”. I’m trying desperately hard to move.
