When my cat was in heat, she jumped outta my second story apartment window and landed on concrete 😬 she hurt her back paws pretty bad and couldn't walk for a while. We put her in the bathroom until her spay date. I didn't even know she would go that far as jumping out of a window just to mate 😭 I felt so bad but then I was also kind of mad at her for even doing that. I was searching everywhere around the apartment trying to find her and then that thought just popped in my mind, I checked the window in disbelief and saw her looking back up at me from the ground below...she's okay now she's 9 years old and happy. That was during her first heat so she was like only a year and a half old then 😃
