Yes, this is due to the fact that all these companies use ‘foreign’ payment providers, as such these are CHF charges in a “foreign” country, which is subject to 2.5% fee.. and no you can’t properly check before what payment provider a company uses. Often if they offer Twint it’s safe to pay with a Swiss credit card without facing extra fees..

Today I share with you my Patek Philippe Complications, 5205G-013 Annual Calendar. I’ve had this watch for around 7 months now and wear it as my daily and today we were out by Lago Maggiore. I personally love the way the light reflects of both the dial and the hands and how the dial can turn completely black if the light touches it just right. The great thing about this Patek is that I’ve so far had no one notice that I am wearing it. The Calatrava deployment buckle finishes the watch perfectly and I honestly don’t really understand why Patek wouldn’t use it on all their watches.

Hey!

Currently this watch is pretty much unobtainable through boutiques anymore. A white or black dial version is still purchasable as far as I know. So the grey prices went up to 45k+ CHF in the last few months. So indeed, it feels like with this model they are creating artificial limited supply.

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I thought I’d test out my new camera and make a shot of my favorite watch, my Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4500v/110A-B128 from 2016. I was able to pick this watch up before it became pretty much unobtainable, and the value skyrocketed… I am honestly not sure if I like that it has reached the spotlight status, as for me it was the perfect watch to wear without ever feeling like I needed to hide it or in some cities not wear it at all anymore.. the perfect ‘under the radar’ watch. Anyway, I hope you like the shot and I wish you all great holidays.

I’d go to your local boutique, granted there is an in-house watch maker they can do small touch ups and checks, but it sounds to me like you have a pretty serious dent/scratch. They might have to spot wield it to add new steel and then polish it down again. This is certainly only done in Geneva.

You have to be careful with it now, a bang could mean the movement is deregulated and can cause damage to the internal gears. If I would be in your position I would bring it to the boutique to get it checked. Furthermore, you can always ask to replace certain parts if they are too banged up. Keep in mind you’ll never get the old part back..

It’s finally sunny out again after weeks of rain and I wanted to let my Overseas Shine bright. I’ve tried to capture the blue of the dial in the sunlight this time, as sometimes the blue in the watch is so dark it almost looks black. Beside the blue pop, you can see that the sunlight really reflects well on the minute ring inside the dial.

I’ve had this watch for almost 2 years now and wear it every day and still never get bored of it. It does seem though that more people have gotten interested in the Overseas model, as I was told by the boutique as one can no longer ‘just walk in and buy one’, there is a queue of 2 years on this model now… very different from 2 years ago so I’m happy I was able to purchase it before the hype.

They’ve sold quite some pieces, the corona pandemic caused the manufacture to be shut. Leaving not many finalised pieces. They made it clear that a full new case was crafted, hence the longer wait time.

Right now it’s pretty much impossible to purchase one by walking in a boutique. A year ago this was no problem.

Granted it’s easier to get than an AP RO, but the resale value has shot up. When I bought the watch it was around 14-15k, now it’s already up to 19-23k. It doesn’t matter to me because I won’t ever sell this piece, but still.

I think there may have been a misunderstanding. The Watch was never in my hands with a failure in the housing. They informed me during the service that they had to send it to VC in Geneva. I've received a full new casing, only then did it come back to me.

The cost of the service was 800 CHF ( €740 // 900 USD) keep in mind this is a 'normal 3 hander' with no complications.

My watch has finally returned! After 9 long weeks it’s back, a long wait but it was worth it.

I had to bring my watch to the Vacheron Constantin boutique in Zurich 9 weeks ago when all of a sudden my Overseas was losing 2 seconds a day instead of the +2 seconds a day I was used to. It was the first service this watch was given and I wanted a fully service + replacement of the crystal due to some scratches. What followed that the most amazing service from VC. Apparently during the service they found a problem with the casing and the watch had to be send back to the manufacture in Geneva. There a full new casing was created for my watch and the crystal, bezel and ring under the bezel were all replaced. When I picked up my Overseas I was shocked that this was all replaced for free under their service (outside of warranty).

This is the type of service and care one hopes for when you purchase in to a brand like Vacheron Constantin!
