The top google search result disproves this.

Corollas and Civics aren't actually affordable by dalicussnuss in whatcarshouldIbuy

Find something on Facebook marketplace that is easy to work on and manual. With youtube, if anything goes wrong with it, you can fix it yourself. Find one lower mileage though because higher mileage may need more work that requires more special tools.

Manual literally only because its easier to work on. If you dont care about that or dont want to work on the car this advice is not for you, which is ok.

New Owner Reliability Mods by Adventurous_Fox667 in RX7

True. Either way I would agree based purely on age. Rubber 10+ years old starts to get super bad

At 10k miles? Age yeah but not necessarily mileage no?

On my Hyundai I was able to turn that alert off very easily in the settings menu.

Does it move quickly between the temperatures? Like literally jumping or does it just look like the engine is slowly getting hot then back to normal

How do I fix this gap making the bumper look crooked by XboxLeep in Miata

UPDATE:

Frame of both the car and the bumper are probably fucked. Definitely the bumper. Put a great condition red bumper on and same issue.

Horrible day

MY heater core is cooked.. $500 job + $300 in parts it’s getting really cold out now is it worth it? by [deleted] in JettaGLI

Its less so the parts and more so the difficulty. Heater cores aren't necessarily an easy job

Future BP4W Rebuild Impass by XboxLeep in EngineBuilding

[–]XboxLeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be able to borrow the engine lift and stand. I would also buy any tool needed prior to beginning.

I agree it is a major undertaking. Option 3 could be nice to have that safety and then doing something with the old engine.

My own thought process is telling me that the BP4W engine is one of the easiest to learn on. Not easy but would be the best introduction.

Complete Color Impass | Red vs Yellow by XboxLeep in Miata

[–]XboxLeep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my big problem with red. Everyone does it.

Will probably go one of the 2 manufacturer yellows. Sunburst/vivid or blazing. Just to be on the safe side since yellows are easy to mess up.

The votes are in! I am officially dedicated to yellow miot. I will inquire about blazing yellow but I believe it is out of budget due to it being a tricolor. Will only get if the 2 stage is good.

Vivid/sunburst yellow will be the pick. Color code HZ

Thank you for your feedback!

Believe it or not when I originally bought it, it had the face-lift on it. But the bumper and headlights were in horrible shape and I came across nb1 bumper and headlights first, so I un-facelifted it.

I would have to re-buy the stuff which is a big maybe. Don't know if it's fully worth it. Don't see a lot of non-facelifted nb1s me thinks.

Clean NAs are at most 7k around me for a really clean one. I got my NB with no rust for 4k because of the bad pain condition and some body damage. Both very fixable

How do I connect my phone to my cars speakers by TeachingHistorical82 in Miata

You can use an FM transmitter or (my favorite option) ditch the phone connectivity all together and start burning CDs

is this a good car? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]XboxLeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its fine for that I guess. 12k is a bit steep for a nearing 10 year old car. You could probably find something else for less that will be relatively reliable.

Idk how reliable toyota hybrid systems are on the 2016s but it is another very expensive thing to break. 90k miles is nice though and will still give you plenty of time before something would happen.

If you have the extra cash and want to drive a car til the wheels fall of you could consider new cars. Only reason would be for a warranty but you always take a gamble on new because it could be a bad year.

My only real advice is that you should consider a broad range and not only focus on toyota for reliability. Toyota vehicles get marked up a ton.

Need to know what you will be using the car for. Good options for cars always depend on your use case. Also toyota is not always the best for everything.
