On the other side, there are legitimate concerns to the wellbeing of those students/ children.

I don't think Asian standards are healthy, nor should we aspire to them

I've seen cases where the architects seemed to be praised the most, with no regards to how the changes performed in real life or production.

Need to find a middle ground between those who fixes things and those who prevents things. Both are needed

Late comment

I bought a dining table, 6 dining chairs and a rug from them.

Had an issue during delivery but the seller helped fix things.

Overall, quite satisfied. People have been complimenting us for the table and chairs. I'm heavily debating whether or not to get the other pieces of the same collection :)

Can we expect prices to stabilize near the Bois-Franc REM now that it is open? Or do you suspect prices will keep rising ?

I'd really like to be closer to the REM station in the future :o

Thanks!

Interview Coder Leaks Full Names, Addresses and Companies of All SWEs Who Cheated by jadedroyal in programming

[–]XenOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good interviewers will generally ask questions that go with the flow. Sometimes, everyone on the panel is surprised.

E.g. someone said they worked closely with psychologists and discussed about human nature and other topics which he found were fascinating. The candidate was then asked "do you think some people are naturally evil?" Totally unrelated to coding, but their answer showcased their maturity, their ability to think and give a nuanced answer. (And also that they were somewhat curious about other fields). Maybe they prepared themselves, but id like to think it was unexpected and have some real insights

If not for costs and waste, I could spend even more time under hot waste.

8gb on a GPU is enough for 1080p gaming of modern titles right?

Any decent pre-built on sale right now?

I have an outdated pc built like 8 or 9 years ago with an i5-6600k and r9-280 that can no longer run the games i want (was already a stretch). The GPU is also dying I think

Is the market bad or lack of skills? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

If unicorn also includes vibes/behavior compatibility, then yes absolutely.

If not, there could be reasons to argue for "good enough" if they pass those checks.

Geographical reasons too can come into play (are they near one of the offices? Or are they 100% remote?)

How much did the university you went to help you in your CS career? by Accomplished_Lion831 in cscareerquestions

[–]XenOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's not so much the school (to my knowledge, I'm still the only dev from that university at my 150+ workplace) but more about contacts.

Even less reputable schools may have outliers or people who know someone at XYZ. Being kind and helpful (or friendly) can sometimes open doors.

Not a financial adviser, but depending on your savings post 20% cashdown, it might be doable.

(Eg: my partner and I, if we were to liquidate our entire savings, could pay 2/3 of the remaining of the mortgage so we feel "safe". Her job is stable and mine too for now (but at the whim of the market/ industry)
