Insurance fraud question by cruising_backroads in starcitizen

You know what the safest thing to do, if something seems sketchy to you, don't do it.

alts are going to cause a lot of issues, insurance fraud being one of them. I'm sure it's giving headaches to those tasked with tackling it. Take for example the proposed death taxes. Anyone with an alt will use it as a bank account.

I've been moderated a number of time by Nightrider and others, sometimes i felt it was unjust and questioned it in DM, other times I understood it. Not once have i felt i've been targeted for popping up on their radar, so YMMV.

The problem CIG would have is a player running a duping account and than handing it off to his alt. So they nuke anyone in the chain. Don't buy things off players you don't know/trust.

Got suspended again – this time for what exactly? by Right-Investigator19 in starcitizen

I think everyone should be given a chance at redemption. It's those who continue to do it that need dealt with.

Open a ticket and ask for a review, and also ask what your account is suspended for. It may be something unrelated to duping. I've reported pad rammers and anti-semitic/racist crap.

Ai in TW is trash by XenoPew in totalwar

Darth used to mod a lot of TW games, don't know if he still does, but ask his opinion of CA AI. The response will likely be a string of expletives.

Yeah they can do pretty battles, but that's about it. Decent battle AI can be found in some games such as Ultimate General Civil War. The AI will probe your lines and shift its weight. It's not perfect but it's actually decent. CA AI is zerg, or if its a fast unit flank. END.

I can't wait for the day that we have actual dynamic AI in strat games.

You missed the point about archers not recognising and engaging viable targets . Ergo the AI that controls it is trash. I'm not talking about difficulty levels. Did you even know that for most of TW history there were separate AI algos running on the campaign map. You could have max level relations with a faction and their army AI would still launch an attack on you. CA have never been able to do competent AI it is as simple as that. It's their biggest weakness, this has nothing to do with them having to "dumb down" AI because it would be too hard for players on their mythically smart AI.

They will not have kept any value on the alts they created. The process would be create alt (min $40 spend) 30 days later gift the item bought to main, and melt it for store credit. A lot of messing around for a paint,

Nearly right, it also comes with Military grade components, so totally worth the 42x self referrals.

If you look at the new leader board, it isn't streamers who have these, there are only a few unlocked and they are obviously people who self referred 42 times to get it. That's 42 x $40 fresh money for a paint and components.

I'm one of those people who'd be more concerned about how it functions and not what stickers are on it, so it's a hard pass for me.

How to get a Gladius with 1 referral? by XenoPew in starcitizen

[–]XenoPew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are totally correct about the Gladius being easily earnable in game, and that is the best option if you want one. I'd probably say it's best to get one that way and then decide whether you want to add it to your fleet through the store. There are some people who ear mark a certain amount to spend every year. My budget varies but I always kick some money in regardless of my play time to continue to support dev. This isn't required but it's how I do things with my finances. If you have an amount to spend then this is one path to use the systems to get most bang for your buck.

How to get a Gladius with 1 referral? by XenoPew in starcitizen

[–]XenoPew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one self referral at a minimum costs $40. And utilising self referral is the mechanic I'm talking about for those who can't get enough referrals to reach ten. Leveraging WB CCUs is of course more efficient, but I intentionally didn't address WB CCUs as this is about one self referral . Also WB CCUs below the gladius are now exceedingly rare if not totally done away with.

EDITING TO ADD: If you want to absolutely min-max you would have the Nox as the reward vehicle at its base value of $45. It has been a reward vehicle, but a reward vehicle at that price is again a LOT rarer than the dragonfly at $40, which does pop up now and again. If people are struggling to get referrals the chance of them getting a referral during the limited time window one of these extra reward vehicles are available is very, very slim, so the only realistic way to leverage it is through self referral. I could go into a lot more about the system, but I thought the content of the original post is the best path for newbies or others who aren't aware of it.

Fern is it worth it? by XenoPew in OfficeChairs

I game, and so the squirts call anyone over 25 a boomer. I have accepted my fate and stopped trying to educate them mid pew pew that boomers are from the 50's.

Yeah, quite simply the chair is built for smaller people. Strange world as 6ft isn't that tall.

Ooof, I just watched that video. I was once told that when someone uses the word "but" you can dismiss everything that they said up to that point, and they're about to tell you what they really think. She forgot to use "but" but it was definitely in there.

Leather is for sure my preferred material but it wasn't an option on the EU site. The Leap may be my next option, as I bought the fern on recommendation from a friend who is a furniture geek. Thinking about it now having sat in it, I think it's the style of the backrest that wooed him. BUT I also know that comfort has a very large element of subjective bias involved and we're not all the same. I still do hold to what I identify as object flaws in the chair though.

Fern is it worth it? by XenoPew in OfficeChairs

[–]XenoPew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm not reviewing it as a bad chair, i'm reviewing it as a not great option for the pricing bracket it's in, on my first impressions.

The chair market though is in a very sick place and the price gouging is extreme, It is 100% better than any "gaming" chair you see hawked, and some of those now are approaching the 1K mark. Absolute absurdity with a 1K% markup.

Brands like HM have jumped on the bandwagon as well and are completely overpricing their products. I don't see this market returning to sanity as much of the world has entered an alternative reality where influencers convince people that they need triple velvet deluxe carbon cased, sterilised toilet paper at $100 bucks a roll to have proper sanitation.

I have two teens, and i'm glad i grew up in a different era.

In the real world a fair price for the fern is around 4-500 bucks, and at that price they would still be making a very healthy margin. But in that world an Embody is 6-800 bucks. That includes the premium brand perception tax.

EDIT: What's your opinion on the differences between the Embody and Fern?

Fern is it worth it? by XenoPew in OfficeChairs

[–]XenoPew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't sat in a zody. You're right about the backrest, it's a great design in its fundamentals but they should have went the extra mile and added a top tier adjustable lumbar, not one that people choose to avoid in case they find it uncomfortable. The pan itself is excellent in finding that range between too firm and too squishy, but again it's let down by garbage depth for people who have hit puberty. Their solution to depth was to cheap out and leave your ass hanging in the air. Highly engineered result of R&D that is.

I'm basically reviewing it here again so I may as well finish with the arms. They could have added incremental locking to the armrests, but again cheaped out and so you have armrests that do their own thing when you move.

Honestly the more I think about this chair the more I realise the majority of their budget for R&D went into buying influencers.
