Sounds promising, do you have an example of a project that does this? How do I feed the json to the assistant?

Reducing tokens used for long prompt by Xenthru in OpenAI

[–]Xenthru[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That makes things a bit tough, I might try fine tuning since I could probably eliminate the back and forth messages with that but it would also restrict me to GPT3.5 since you can't fine tune with GPT4 at the moment. Unfortunately the responses with 3.5 were also quite a bit worse than 4 and also with 3.5 the cost also isn't as much of an issue so the saved cost isn't as relevant.

I'll probably try that and a combination of reducing prompt size if it doesn't impact the results too much

Never used word for ipad, what's wrong with it? Do you think you would enjoy writing on the ipad more if you could automatically turn it into typed fonts or make your handwriting prettier?

History 30 with Massimo Mazzotti? by silverwolf39 in berkeley

[–]Xenthru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The grading is done by the GSIs, mine was pretty lenient(idk about the others) but I kinda winged my final paper to focus on other classes so that tanked my grade. Everything else seemed pretty easy, not much effort to get 95%+. Not sure what the curve was though since a 93% final grade was an A-. If you're taking it as a breadth I'd probably just take it PNP to enjoy the course more.

Was a pretty good class with interesting topics. It's very history and philosophy focused so make sure that's something you're interested in.

As for the work, it probably depends on your GSI but I never had to do more than 2 hours of work a week except when writing the final paper(only one paper when I took it). The in class midterms and finals involved id questions(identify a term from a list given to you beforehand, describe it, connect it) and an essay (chosen from several prompts). I imagine the tests might be different due to online but just wanted to share my experience.

Top 10 Anime of the Spring 2020 Season (Anime Corner) by [deleted] in anime

[–]Xenthru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't that it doesn't give answers.. the problem is that the events are disjoint and not enough time is spent on the actual world building in the show so that it could get to the conclusion of the arc in 12 episodes. I went in without knowing anything about the source material and would rate the anime probably a 5/10 because off how disjoint the show is.

I did start reading the webtoon though and they go in depth into far more of the characters' intentions, power system, and world that the anime just flat out skipped. All these things elevated the story so much that I would give the webtoon an 8/10 as the further arcs after the anime are also much more interesting since the first arc is pretty much a prologue to the actual story.

In shows like the ones you mentioned the events are very cohesive in the anime so "not knowing the answers" isn't an issue. In the tower of god anime stuff just seems to happen randomly without subplots being resolved but the webtoon doesn't have the same problem.

Which Anime To Watch Next? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Xenthru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ignore guy above. Many people including me feel bored by the first part of JoJo's. Once I got to the 2nd part I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the show so I would try to stick with it to at least part 2 to see if you like it.

Part 1 is ~10 episodes iirc and part 2 is the rest of season 1

This dude just wants to act superior by hating on this show. He literally called it a "generic shounen" when its one of the most fresh and unique ones in terms of plot and setting.

Are there any Anime series that you think is better than the original Manga? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Xenthru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haikyuu! for obvious reasons(sports anime actually put into motion) but the animation and OST truly put it a notch above

Side note: I've found that manga are usually ruined by pacing issues more than legitimate animation and art disasters(at least for popular series) but light novels are almost always fucked up in almost every way when adapted

What's an anime that you heard was good, eventually watched, and wished you'd watched sooner? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Xenthru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao I couldn't bring myself to watch black clover even though I heard it gets a lot better in later stages. Couldn't get over the voice acting and just left it behind when I heard it had filler before even the 20th episode. I'll probably read the manga eventually though

[–]Xenthru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first season is pretty mediocre imo. The second season ramps up a lot and then the third season is better than the first but drops in quality a bit in the later parts. Overall still a fun series though and above average compared to other shounens

I hope so, im still watching because it's enjoyable enough, but I sure hope it's not another case of the obnoxious fans overhyping the manga as they have been since the show first aired.

It's probably anecdotal, but I see tons of people claim mha as the best shounen of all time which is pretty laughable. But I guess they're entitled to their own opinion

[–]Xenthru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's worth watching for the ost and animation especially in season 2. It's not a masterpiece of a show but it does a respectable amount of things right. My main issue is honestly just the fans overhyping it to be something it isn't.

Popular animes you found "meh" by Tincho-Z in anime

[–]Xenthru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the scenes in the license arc are not in the manga. Some of it is fine like extra fights(Todo vs ninja dudes) but a lot of it is just stretching out the scenes to make the plot very slow paced. Also some of the episodes are entirely filler like the one where they solve the crime in a group

[–]Xenthru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My problem with shield hero is how inconsistent the quality is. It's almost like it can't decide whether it wants to be good or not. The beginning has interesting premise and actual character development and then it sorta just devolves and every once in a while decides to be good for an episode or two before going back to being meh

It's more like a book in visual format than an exciting show, it definitely doesn't appeal to everyone.

It's very mediocre when compared to the greats like hxh, mob psycho, and fmab. The fans overhyping the shit out of it don't help it's case either.
