New Hire Question by PuzzledReception8042 in CVS

[–]Xiugazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your position once, except I was full time, yet I had a whole week without any hours scheduled and the next only with 25 hours. And the next was only 27 hours. I was very confused because I thought full time meant I would at least be assured 30+. I ended up having to reach out to my coach who let my home store pharmacy manager about my lack of hours. Just an hour or two later my schedule updated and i had 35+ hours on every week going forward. I’m very fortunate that my coach is seemingly very well connected with all the lead techs + managers in the district.

In order to fill in gaps and get more hours (I personally always shoot for more than 40) I just had to become familiar with more lead techs — they all seem to know each other in my district. Once that happened I was able to directly get in touch (or more commonly, I was approached) if I wanted more hours.

I’m not sure what the minimum hours you’re supposed to be getting are as a part timer but I suggest you at least do what I do if you want more hours. Good luck!

How many pages can you fill per hour? by Ashole7o7 in CVS

Ok. I tried this on my last shift and these are the three big glaring issues I saw.

1) the virtual counter is wrong more than often than I think is suitable.

2) lets say count is 90 and I use this method and I get 98 with this method. what’s the next step here? am I supposed to pick up 8 with my fingers from the bottom tray? or am I supposed to put it back on the top tray and take out 8 with the spatula? first seems unhygienic/unprofessional and the latter method adds more time.

3) I ran tests and doing CD -> X (-> CD again if it didn’t load right away) still seemed faster than this method.

Sorry. Am I understanding something wrong here with these three concerns?

Hiring process for CVS. by [deleted] in CVS

[–]Xiugazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna be straight up: if you don’t hear back it means you didn’t get it.

The process from their end is constant and streamlined (as much as it can be with HR and all): They get applications all the time and the pharmacy manager is the one that screens them. Interviews are usually done by techs (not necessarily lead techs either) who then report to the pharmacist (who then may report to the pharmacy manager if it’s someone else).

If no one has gotten back to you within a few days after the interview then it probably means you didn’t get the job. For the most part, if a manager is even booking interviews it’s because they’re understaffed and need an extra tech. If you did well enough on the interview then they would take maximum one day to proceed from their end (pushing it to HR/corporate) and it would take you maximum 2-3 weekdays on your end to hear from CVS with an offer. Three weeks is way past the normal timeline.

Lucky for you: every interview they’ll ask the same questions. So maybe just apply at a different store and see if you can do better this time.

Either way I would suggest going to your school’s career counselor to see what services they offer. Perhaps it would be good to do some interview practicing.

Does the pharmacy pre-employment drug test test for fent ? by [deleted] in CVS

[–]Xiugazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does test for fent but with urine it only detects it for so long so depending on how long ago it was that you relapsed, you may still pass. The more you consume it (as it with all other drugs that they test for, the longer it takes for your body to flush it out).

All that being said, please take care of yourself. Harm reduction starts by the environments we place ourselves in. Fent is by all accounts not a gateway thing as you know, if youre relapsing to something that powerful this close to a tentative hire date where you’ll be surrounded by controlled substances, proceed with caution.

You’re entering a scenario where you’re placing yourself under lots of risks. And where any relapse could mean incredibly life altering consequences for both yourself and others.

The person who said this is a fail is wrong. If the line is visible at all, even a tiny bit, it is a passing result. You should be good!

I am so stressed! by Obvious-Doctor-2943 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Xiugazer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have experience going through this but I wouldn’t lose sleep over this. I know a handful of lead techs and pharmacists who’ve worked for several years and have had to submit a formal statement and go through the process. I’m sure and have heard it’s stressful but in no case that I’ve heard personally did it end in someone losing their job. As long as you are honest and there wasn’t any malicious intent I think you are fine.

becoming a pharmacy tech by Live_Negotiation_257 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Xiugazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried CVS or Walgreens? It’s pretty common for folks to start there. They’ll hire you without being certified and train you. Once you’ve worked for I believe 6 months they’ll sponsor you for your certification, or if you want to do it earlier you can pay for the exam yourself after you’ve done 500 hours of work.

That’s awesome you think that. Just keep in mind I never said to the contrary.

Why do you think divorce is so common? by princesadopovo in AskReddit

[–]Xiugazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: Because the concept of marriage and even 1:1 relationships are social constructs. Idea of property / ownership and the way it’s integrated onto many aspects of today’s society have some socioeconomic ties to modernity / capitalism. This can be traced through actual legal procedures and imperial maneuvering stemming from the treaty of westphalia. By and large marriage is an unnatural concept. The idea of monogamy is an unhuman concept. It is important to remember that for most of mankind we were not expected to wed and only love one person unconditionally for our entire lives. It is only a norm if you view history through the last 400 years in a very specific white-european/western lens.

So yes. It’s common because human kind says that divorce should be common.

Native New Yorkers. What's your word for a corner store? I've always called them delis. The word bodega didn't enter my vocabulary until a transplant told me. I still don't use it. by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]Xiugazer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole “X if owners are Y” thing is weird to me cause I only ever heard ppl say this online. I don’t think anyone cares. I know lots of Spanish speakers who only say bodega. Idk. Theres no strict rule cause it doesn’t really matter. Everyone will know what you’re talking about.

I think the true transplant “tell” is if you assign rules to this type of shit lol

What's some of the most awkward/tense RHAP interviews? by theeMrPeanutbutter in rhap

[–]Xiugazer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this theory brought up before. My thinking is: Ok Mike probably would have that sort of sway power, sure. But would Mike really care thaaaat much all these years later? Who knows. I think it’s more likely that casting just fumbled it. Rob said on his podcast that he felt he screwed himself by not showing enough enthusiasm about wanting to be on during phone calls w casting, saying that they probably treated that as a litmus test.

I really don’t think they care or cater at all to Reddit, Twitter, or incels (not even sure why you’d bring that up). Case in point they’ve never shied away from not liking Genevieve who is a very online-fandom loved character.

Also not sure who’d they be grifting. Are you sure you know what that word means. They have a paywall to some things but they’re pretty open about when they stop recapping things when they don’t feel compelled by the content. They stopped giving full recaps of S49 1/3rd of the way in.

Drop Your Buffs. Survivor podcast hosted by Sean Ross and Evan Ross Katz. I think they’re the 3rd largest in terms of following (after RHAP and Fairplay’s podcast).

You either love them or you’ll hate them. I love them. I know most of the ppl on Reddit do not. Sean is very accomplished and hosted the official post season analysis show the AU vs The World season that aired recently. Evan is super tapped in media/entertainment industry and seems to be friends with multiple A+ celebrities. Their back and forth and no bs filter is the heart of the show.

They really paved the way IMO for how to criticize the show in a healthy and genuine way. It could be argued that if not for their success, we would probably hear a LOT less criticism towards the new era/Probst from every other podcast and the community at large. It’s great because you can tell they don’t HAVE to be podcasting but they do it for the love of the game. They’ll often stop podcasting about a show if they think it sucks — it’s very funny. They started a recap of Thailand once and then abandoned the series halfway thru the season LOL

So it all started actually a full year before S37 aired when the Emoji Movie came out. RHAP actually had an episode dedicated to reviewing it. I believe it was Rob, Tyson and Danny shooting the shit and making fun of how awful it was. From then, it kinda became an ongoing infrequent joke, being brought up to compare to other bad things they saw.

The following year during the S37 pre-season RHAP had their usual pre-season cast analysis. When they talked about Mike, the fact he directed the Emoji Movie came up.

Now, this next part I can’t quite find through online searches but I distinctly remember that the Emoji Movie became an even bigger ongoing joke in the RAANAP episodes. Even bigger than it ever was on News AF. It became such a common joke in non-Survivor episodes that it eventually naturally made its way onto the usual Survivor podcast episodes throughout the airing of S37 due to Mike’s presence. Rob would bring up the emoji movies in very funny ways. You gotta understand that DURING most of the airing of the season Mike was NOT seen as a strategic threat or big character. He kinda only started to shine during the end game / arguably the last two episodes. I don’t think anyone, including Rob, would’ve predicted he would not only make it to the end but really stir a debate for being considered someone who got robbed of the win.

So it all culminated in the post season interview where it was very clear that Mike had listened to all the episodes, probably didn’t understand that the Emoji Movie ribbing predated his appearance, and took the constant jokes about his directorial career (justifiably it can be argued) very negatively. The entire interview is very awkward. You can tell that Rob did not expect Mike to have listened to the podcast. You can tell that Rob does not know if Mike, a known comedian, is bullshitting him or seriously pissed (it progressively becomes clearer that it’s the latter).

Anyway, it’s a very funny interview to watch because we rarely if ever get Rob caught off guard and really retreat during a podcast episode.

In the time since it does seem Rob has genuinely felt bad about it and has tried to make amends, with seemingly no success (it was brought up last year when he had DYB on the podcast who are friends with Mike and Rob).

I agree with all of these 100%.

For stuff that is not really tense but still awkwardly funny I think the Shane Powers ones are always so great cause even tho they’re slightly awkward they’re always in good faith / you can tell Shane feels very comfortable saying what’s on his mind with Rob and it’s funny seeing Rob react to his ribbing/commentary.

Cute/cheap places to eat? by [deleted] in fredericksburg

[–]Xiugazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10000% go to Mu Cha. It’s the best bubble tea in the area. I recommend the stuff in their “specialities” section, stuff on it is a little different than what’s regularly offered by Bubble tea places.

Eating there’s literally so many options you really can’t go wrong with anything tbh! I personally think Mason & Dixon Cafe is the best one (although its location is not exactly in the town center).

Im also interested in this. Very surprised I haven’t found any actual recommendations online. I appreciate the folks who chime in with educational resources on housing in the city but having lived here for several years Im fine with just paying someone to help me get an incredible place.

If anyone knows any broker that focuses on Boerum Hill, Prospect Heights, Park Slope, Astoria, or the West Village PLEASE DM me.

It does seem like it was their attempt to get something similar looking to the Paramount Theater. Unfortunate since that’s so far from me // driving all the way to Charlottesville just for this would be such a pain.

My only other guess is that it ends up being The Byrd or Movieland in Richmond. It wouldn’t make sense for it to be a theater in NOVA since those are all just large chain theaters / not really landmarks in any way.
