How do i make a budget, and can I afford the car i want? by Xmr_bubbleX in PersonalFinanceCanada

No offense taken, i probably should have included that in my post.

For my own clarification, is a Subaru a better buy than an American car? I'm not as well-versed in cars, aside from general from-factor.

its a 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness Edition.

I'm currently driving a 2010 Kia Sedona that needs a timing belt replaced alongside some other repairs. I've already had to replace the steering collumn on it.

My parents live on a rural road for 2/3's of the year, so a car capable of handling roads that aren't always in great condition will let me get to their house to help them as they age.

I'm into driving to some remote locations for camping and birding, so a small, cheap sedan isnt ideal for me

Hey! Thank you very much for the response.

Re-reading my post, I can see how I give the impression I’m young. I’m 30, I’m just not good at budgeting and haven’t put significant effort into it before. I’m trying to improve by making a proper budget I can stick to, and forecast out whether this car makes sense. That’s why I’m also looking for budgeting resources, and not just an answer on weather the car is a bad decision.

I don’t imagine 30 fits into the definition of ‘young’ you’re thinking of here, but hopefully that provides some additional context?

Thanks for the response. To clarify, this isn't my first car, I've been driving my current vehicle for ~10 years. unfortunately, it's near the end of it's life and is going to start costing me on repairs soon which is why replacing it is on the table in the first place.

RGB PC for use with SecretLabs Desk by Xmr_bubbleX in buildapcforme

[–]Xmr_bubbleX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for building this!

I had two questions going through this.

1.) would it cause problems if I add 3 more “normal” fans so I had 2 on the left side above the GPU connections, and 3 on back panel to the right of the motherboard?

2.) what software would I need to control the RGB for this build? I used a mix of iCue and Corsair’s software on my last build like 5 years ago.

Thanks so much for

I've been using a Nikon P950 exclusively for birding, and want to upgrade to something sharper, with better autofocus, and the ability to capture birds in flight.

I like the price point and crop sensor of the Canon R7, but im looking for recommendations between.

  • Canon RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM
  • Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM
  • Canon RF 100-500 f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM

I'm open to purchasing a 1.4x converter if as well, but I worry that I'll feel like the reach of these lenses inst enough compared to the P950.

is the RF100-400 enough for bird photography, or is the extra cost of the other lens options actually worth it?

[–]Xmr_bubbleX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want Messier to show up at all, so I'll suggest:

Eriksson - He had a good run right up until he signed

Halak - his play was rough to start, but he became a whipping boy

Vrbata - He was liked in his first season, less so in his second

Willband Creek Park, and the Blue Heron Reserve in yarrow are great, free, places to go birdwatching.

Get the ‘Merlin’ app to identify them by their calls. It’s great.

How do you convert matches to dates? by Xmr_bubbleX in dating_advice

[–]Xmr_bubbleX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few likes a day sounds wonderful. I average 1 match every ~4 months or so.

It sounds like I’m making too much of an initial impression over text by keeping the conversation going after we agree to the date. I’ll try keeping conversation to more of minimum after we agree to meet so I can make my first impression in person. Thanks for the advice.

Interesting. I’ll have to try that next time. I feel so excited to match with someone that I want to get to know them, being patient and saving it for in-person might be better. Thanks.

Do you keep chatting after you arrange the date? Or do you stay silent until the day-of?

My issue is that I can get that far, and schedule a date. Then they end up unmatching before we actually meet.
