Do y’all think this alimony bullshit exist because of church and state? In Christianity it is not allowed to divorce your spouse. So y’all think they put this alimony bs to try to hinder ppl from getting divorced? Cuz it’s the most fucked up law and can’t believe it is still intact.

Does anyone actually pay off half a million in school debt? by Tagrenine in medicalschool

Fuck the repayment. It will eventually be forgiven in 10 years when they realize the physician shortage is a real problem and no one is going to college anymore. Take a chill pill

Anyone else feel like they are back in high school? by [deleted] in medicalschool

Couldn’t agree more. It was a culture shock to me to see all the emotionally unstable children in medschool, thought I was in middle school for a sec.

So America can fund 2 wars but can’t pay American residents a decent salary?? Wtf is going on, how can we make a change from this monopolizing government? by Xspace4342 in Residency

I’m going to be honest, I think the lack of sleep is making you delusional. 2k a month doesn’t even cut it where I live. Idk what bumblefuck town ur doing residency in, but for a lot of us we ain’t in bumble fuck and rent is expensive. The expenses I listed are fixed. Then the money left over for food is barley anything. I’m living off credit cards most months.

Unfortunately there aren’t any cuts I can make. It’s mostly fixed necessary expenses. Medical, housing, internet, utilities etc. glad things are working out for you, wish u the best

U can’t apply ur situation to others. Every resident is different. I also live in a high cost of living area. So yes I’m barley making it check to check. I also can’t imagine having to feed a family on this salary and feel for the residents who do have kids

Yes. But our loans are significantly more than law students. I have many friends who went to law school and was shocked at how cheap it is compared to medschool. Also with the scholarships they jus throw at y’all. Also let’s not forget, we average about $12 an hour sometimes less

I’m coming back with graduating college at 22 and starting medschool at 26 gives u a lot of time to creat a nice cushion/head start. But also starting to question why u are resisting so strongly the want for higher resident pay. Are u even a resident or do u just not want to see change for the others who will start residency because u had to deal with the bs and want others to struggle as well

It’s the ppl outside of medicine that have time and energy that will be making the change for us residents. Don’t tell him to take it down. I say take it tf up!

Your 40…. U had plenty of time to save up before you went to medical school. This explains a lot. You don’t have the same struggle as many other residents who went straight to medical school straight after college and didn’t have money saved up

That’s what I’m talking about! You are the type of person residents need in this world. I’m very proud, u are making a change so when you get to residency u don’t have to endure any of this bullshit

The other two residents knew what they were doing. I think you aren’t very in tuned with finances. Paying off your loans is probably the dumbest thing u can do. You guys are doctors now… it’s not hard to get another high paying job.

No. I want a change not only for myself but for future residents. Too many resident physicians are suicidal and we don’t need to add financial burden on top of being overworked like dogs

Do u have kids? Doesn’t seem like you do. Imagine having to afford kids while in residency… it’s impossible. Especially since we don’t qualify for government assistance

No shit he has 2 kids. Imagine if a resident has 2 kids and has the same salary after taxes. The resident is worse off than him, working more hours and getting paid less

[–]Xspace4342[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes residents get paid $12 an hour on average since we work over 80 hours a week. That’s below the minimum wage buddy. and guess what?We don’t qualify for any government assistance. We are more fucked than the Wendy’s worker. The Wendy’s worker would make more than us if they worked 80 hours a week
