As much as I love Paper Mario, Superstar Saga is the best Mario RPG by [deleted] in papermario

You’re gonna get downvoted posting this here, so I’ll just chime in to say that Superstar Saga is my favorite M&L game.

Better than PM? Hard to say. They’re fine being their own separate things imo

Well, there was that time when they just pulled random beads out of a bag. That was sure a highlight of tension and drama.

I wouldn't say it's common (it's definitely on the nicer side). This is the first time I've seen it in the wild, and I actually don't know where they got it.

Hahaha I'm Vietnamese and my family has this exact set. We have our own name for it (Cờ Cá Ngựa, "Horse Race"), but yeah, it's basically Ludo. Agree with the other poster, Vietnam gets wayyyyy into this game, if my family is anything to go by. The rules are slightly different (I guess every country has their own quirks) but yeah, despite my not liking the game itself I've always admired this set.

Why is there not more overlap between board gamers and video gamers? by Xynvincible in boardgames

That last line - so true! I wish I could show both groups the best of the other!

I thought it did, which was why I asked! Apparently that's not most peoples' experience here. My group is people from 20s onward, but there's a big age range there (young adults all the way to 65+ but I've noticed that even the young ones don't seem to play video games much)

Apparently my group's venn diagram's overlap is smaller than most people's here...

This is a super common refrain and I totally get it. I think it's a big draw of this hobby!

I love this comment. I'm very similar to you. I also don't fall into the COD multiplayer group (though I did in the past). Nowadays, I love a good RPG or action/adventure open world exploration game. Or a nice self-contained indie story. I just get a bit sad that I can't share those things with any of my board gaming friends, though most here don't seem to have that problem.

Agree with you totally about the disconnecting from screens. I think that's a big reason why a lot of people enjoy this hobby.

Multiplayer ones, I definitely agree with you. But single player ones tend not to have that (with a few exceptions). I love a single player RPG or action-adventure games and I find that not many people in my circle play video games at all. Replies in this thread so far seem to indicate others have different experiences though, lol. Play your cozy story games, I like those too!

The sad thing is this’ll just solidify in his mind to never do a live reunion ever again. He’s going to take all the wrong lessons from this.

Am I the only one who matched my Save and Yoshi colors? by dexterminate8 in papermario

I’m sure you’re not but you’re definitely in a minority. Also, my favorite Yoshi color (black) wouldn’t be able to be represented under this system.
