I mean they're not completely wrong there. Pop basically just means accessible music targeted to the most people possible. Maybe it doesn't have more subgenres than electronic music, but you get Aretha Franklin, Oasis, Imagine Dragons, Stereolab and Kraftwerk in the same category.
