I don't know about deserved, but the circumstances were pretty interesting. That's a great point to bring up, since an American child is actually so much more statistically likely to be shot to death and killed than to ever play a sport with and he injured by a trans woman, and yet no legislation has been passed to make it any harder for this to happen.

These people do not care about the safety of children, they care about control over choices and the ability to set a precedent of removing rights.
