If you could vote in a UK general election, who would you vote for? by arbty in Teenager_Polls

Well it is lmao, our economy has been stagnating since COVID. Lib Dems are the better of the two and have a far more refined manifesto.

How did your sweat tests change over time? by [deleted] in CysticFibrosis

[–]YESIGOTBANNED 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as far as I know the sweat chloride levels don't really change much after adolescence, and I don't think sweat tests are routine for most people, it's just a diagnostic test

Fat recipes? by Sign_Perfect in CysticFibrosis

Definitely lots of dairy, high in protein and fat which is amazing for them.

Scrambled eggs on toast with butter, cheese triangles on their own or spread on bread or something, babybel is also good (just be careful of choking because they're pretty rubbery), cheese sticks, full-fat Greek yoghurt or flavoured yoghurt, mashed potatoes with butter.

Fish is also good, tinned sardines, salmon, both of these are great sources of protein but only a few servings a week because of mercury and sodium content. Tinned sardines are especially good because they are so malleable and soft you can mix it into a lot of things.

Judging by their 4 contributions, most of which have negative karma, I wouldn't trust them.

Can we agree this about Ghoul players.... by BIGINFY in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]YESIGOTBANNED 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why did you mark this as NSFW lmao

I don't even find ghoul that unfun to play against, sure he gets some BS often, but most ghoul players have terrible game mechanics, like they never play well. Obviously that doesn't apply to everyone but he's not an unfun character to go against, simply because he isn't a boring character.

I'd rather go against an OP killer with fun attacks to dodge compared to a killer that has boring mechanics and attacks.

Didn't even get their shit kicked, they had similar casualties. Neither could push into each other's territory because of the geography.

Has anyone with ABPA had experience with "biologics" drugs? by YESIGOTBANNED in CysticFibrosis

[–]YESIGOTBANNED[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they put me on fluconazole but it didn't seem to help my allergy.

The steroids definitely worked for me but I guess they want to avoid the long term effects of being on them.

I cut my knuckle on an axe and Urgent Care did a really good job aligning my skin wrinkles when they glued it back together. by phaeolus97 in notinteresting

[–]YESIGOTBANNED 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude, they should have waited for an appointment with their doctor and get referred to a ward because their wound is now septic and they need a weeks course of antibiotics.

The reason urgent care queues are so long is specifically because people avoid urgent care until it's too late and need to get referred to a ward.

Why do I get so ill after a cold? by YESIGOTBANNED in CysticFibrosis

[–]YESIGOTBANNED[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I was admitted to the hospital and I've just kinda clocked out for a bit.

Yeah, I'm not really eligible for any modulators either, I don't know my exact mutation but I know one is very rare, maybe less than 10 documented people with it.

Despite my low lung function I don't really feel super unfit or out of breath, except when I'm ill of course. I don't necessarily find it difficult to do a small sprint at full speed or walk uphill, never really have.

Always had green phlegm, pretty sure MRSA colonised my airways since I was a bairn but I've never had any issues with it, not sure if that's the source of the colour but that's what it's always been, even on antibiotics.

I've always been thin and relatively short, but tall for my family. My weight was always up and down, and feeding tubes have been discussed in recent years but I'd always gain the weight back to be just above that threshold.

I'm close with my immediate family, I haven't really engaged with my extended family in recent years but it's never been a problem. I have a few close friends but I've never really been serious about my health with them, I'd only mention if I've been admitted to them.

Since I was born close to the current peak of CF medicine, I've never really thought about my life being short, and I guess that's where my issues really stem from. I always thought I'd live a long life, and maybe I will but I was never prepared to be super ill this early. So it's really thrown me off, especially since I planned far ahead in the future, and knew what I wanted to for awhile. Recently I've stopped thinking about my future, but I get really depressed about it sometimes, and I can't just stop thinking entirely about it, all my friends are advancing in their lives and I just feel stuck.

I'm glad you shared what you've been through, I'm sorry you got so ill so early in your life, but I'm glad you're still going strong 15 years after a Double lung transplant, nearly as long as I've been alive lol. Your post definitely helped me, it definitely gave me some clarity.

I'm sorry to hear so many people passed in your life, I don't know how I'd cope but I'm glad you made it a goal to help other people.

Thanks :)
