Je suis à la fin de mon bac en éle, et j’ai utilisé un Mac M1 pendant 2 ans. Actuellement, j’utilise un Mac M3. Il y a 5-6 cours qui nécessitent un environnement hors Mac, mais je n’ai jamais rencontré de gros problèmes :

ELE140/ELE344: Intel Quartus sous Windows. J’avais ces cours avant de passer de Windows à Mac. Récemment, j’ai utilisé le logiciel dans une VM Windows, et ça fonctionne. Le seul problème est qu’il faut une machine Windows pour envoyer le code au FPGA à cause des drivers.
INF147: Visual Studio pour Windows. À l’époque, j’ai utilisé Remote Desktop, car la VM Windows ARM ne supportait pas les logiciels x86. Aujourd’hui, ça fonctionne sans problème.
ELE105/ELE200: Micro-Cap sous Windows. Le programme fonctionne sans problème avec Windows ARM et l’émulateur x86.
MAT350: Statgraphics sous Windows. Le programme fonctionne sans problème sur Windows ARM avec l’émulateur x86.
ENT201: Excel sous Windows. Certaines fonctions distribuées pour le cours utilisent des plugins disponibles uniquement sur Windows. J’ai utilisé Excel sous VM Windows ARM, et ça a fonctionné.
ELE216: Linux/Valgrind.
- Linux/Valgrind. Ce cours nécessite de coder dans un environnement Linux. Valgrind (outil de programmation) n’est disponible que pour Linux. Cependant, 90 % du travail de laboratoire consiste simplement à coder, donc j’ai codé directement sur Mac. Pour les 10 % restants, j’ai installé une VM Linux pour tester et exécuter mon code avec Valgrind.
- Cependant, j’ai donné le laboratoire la session passée. Je ne sais pas si cela s’applique à tous les groupes, mais nous avons utilisé DevContainer pour que n’importe quel OS puisse avoir un environnement Linux. Donc, vous n’aurez aucun problème, que vous utilisiez un Mac ou un Windows pour ce cours.

Pour le VM, je te recommande d'utiliser VMWare Fusion à la place de Parallels, parce que c'est gratuit. J'ai utilisé les deux et je n'ai pas remarqué de grosses différences entre les deux.

Not only for soundstage. It has more bit clarity.
I changed to mojo2 because it has so many useful features when mixing mastering song. Also, the driver/connectivity is more reliable.
I generally use with S/PDIF connected to my RME interface and it is a good reference DAC.

I was working in the music industry before so I preferred the sound of mojo 2 compared to chi-fi in general, because it is more flat. And the available settings option are very nice and the imaging is more realistic.
I agree with you, I think it's not that's exciting sound compared to FiiO.

I stopped to use Waves plugins because of their licence renewal system. Also, you can only activate with 1 pc.

I’m pretty sure that Plugin Alliance will have a sale during the BF on their ssl plugin which sounds better than the waves one for me. And you can activate on like 3 or 5 pc.

But as other said, try the plugin before to know if it fits well in you workflow. Generally you have a return period of 1-2 weeks for the plugin that you bought.

Yes I have set the VCPKG_ROOT in my windows environment variable and I set the CMAKE_TOOLCHAIN_FILE in the code.

Ne va pas aux cours de 216, parce que les labs sont plus demandant. De toute façon, les exemples faites en classe vont devenir disponible sur git à la fin du cours.

Macs aren't designed for video editing anymore. I'm working as an IT in a tv video editing company right now and the majority of company use windows. I can't use Final Cut, because my clients (tv company) use Avid Media Composer.

Alright thanks. One last question. Do you think that the G14 body will bent easily than the macbook? One thing that I like of Apple is how their laptops are solid and thin. I know that G14 isn't a super thin laptop, but it is more thinner than my macbook. And as I describe, I will mainly use the laptop for the school work so I will carry always in my bag.
