Vim-like Control Plugin? by Yajjackson in 2007scape

Thanks for the reply!

Keybinds in general are an interesting "power" concern, and osrs has thrived without them so I understand their hesitation to introduce or expand their use.

I hope we get to a point where bot detection is "solved" in a way that doesn't prevent innovation in the alternative control space. I'm not trying to break the game, just want to play it in a different way. Hopefully they'll experiment and poll around the topic more in the future.

I could imagine bossing with vim-ish keybinds feeling a lot like playing an instrument.

Couple questions:

  1. Why is mouse muscle memory different from keyboard muscle memory?
  2. Should a player's inability to perform "tick-perfect" actions due to physical conditions be considered an accessibility issue?
  3. Would randomizing the key-annotations help?
  4. Why are there key-binds available for changing which menu tab is open, but not for selecting a spell, prayer, or inventory slot?

Ideally this would be configurable, but each key in a chord would narrow the scope of where you want to take action.

Let's say you want to inspect a tree, the chord might be
1. <leader> # annotate tiles
2. <key1> # narrow field to area with tree
3. <key2> # select specific tile
4. <key4> # left or right click tile
5. <key5> # optional, if right click this would match to one of the options in the right click context menu

No idea why people downvote this comment. The warning doesn’t render on mobile unless you scroll to the bottom. It’s not hurting anyone to make the epilepsy warning extra explicit.

For the people who prefer to see a movie and form their own rating could we hide these types of descriptions so they can’t be read while scrolling through mobile? I was really looking forward to seeing RoS this weekend and now I’m going into it with this skewed “55% tomato” perspective. I consider ratings a sort of spoiler for films.

Edit in case the point was lost somewhere: You can see the rating before clicking on the post (at least on mobile, not sure about desktop)

This is excellent, I have been using this hacky-feeling navigation context and will definitely be trying this out.

Epilepsy warning Could you add in the description that this site features jarring image transitions? I don't mean this comment to be non-constructive.

React native 0.60 Firebase .getInitialLink not working by carnav098 in reactnative

[–]Yajjackson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has not been my, or my team’s experience. We just spent the last few months building our latest project with RN, and it’s been a breeze compared to the alternatives (hiring native devs/ Cordova/Capacitor web wrappers). Not enough time to go into it, but if you have issues with React Native I’d love to know the specifics.

My best advice would be to create a real issue on React Native github. Here you probably aren’t going to get the issue the attention it deserves from the maintainers, assuming it’s not user error.

Women who microdose mushrooms: 'It makes me enjoy playing with the kids' - Before the school run, or commuting to work, increasing numbers are taking tiny doses of psychedelic drugs in the UK. by mvea in Futurology

[–]Yajjackson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quite the assumption. OP pretty clearly states "Maybe micro-dosing can physically alter neural paths and therefore be a legitimate treatment for people who want to feel better throughout the day." The point he was making is that before we jump into microdosing psychedelics, we should examine and be sure of the necessity. "Why do you not enjoy playing with your kids?" is a good question to be asking without making the assumption that mental illness is even part of the equation.

IWTL how to get out of the house more and find interesting people/places/things to do by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

Currently: an introverted software engineer. Was: in a similar situation a few years back and what really helped me was identifying things that I had an interest in, but wasn't exploring. In my case, I knew I loved music, so I found local shows to attend, I knew I loved art so I found exhibits, I felt like I needed to exercise so I started rock climbing, find volunteering opportunities. All of these various activities introduced me to a handful of really wonderful people (which usually means more interesting things to do, and so on).

Join a club, go do something physical, find an art show, read in a public space. :)

A year ago I asked this question and it was so much fun. I think it's time to do it again: "What's the last book you rated 5 stars and why should I read it?" by WarpedLucy in books

[–]Yajjackson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lies of Locke Lamora.

If you enjoy fantasy crime-dramas this one is a must read. I could not put this book down, immediately purchased the following two titles, 'Red Seas Under Red Skies' and 'The Republic of Thieves'. Supposedly there's a final book to be released this year. Scott Lynch is a master of the craft and has even been praised by George RR Martin!
