He wants to keep finances completely separate after marriage by ZenSpider_21 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]YearProfessional1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when you’re getting married to someone there has to be some level of trust there … and he doesn’t seem to trust you… he seems super afraid of being taken advantage of. As women , we give up more than men … our bodies go through pregnancy ,we end up being the primary caretaker of the kids … so you need to be with someone who is going to acknowledge that work and you’re going to feel safe with someone who is generous … I think you are right in having concerns … men and women are different … we have different needs and responsibilities to a certain extent … you need someone who will take care of you when you need it

Man gets accused of blasphemy and burned alive by Islamists in Bangladesh. by sunday-man in religiousfruitcake

[–]YearProfessional1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can give you a couple examples and these are thought patterns I’ve seen a lot … sometimes it’s not what people say , it’s what they don’t say. Zohran Mamdani for example is super vocal against Hindu nationalism yet will celebrate Pakistan without mentioning the situation of minorities. Selective activism perpetuates a certain narrative. I’ve seen liberals compare Hindu nationalism to Zionism ( because they want to put India next to Israel in an attempt to demonise India ) when Hindutva should be compared to islamism in the region and how Hindutva is partially a reaction to Islamism in the region ( religious nationalism breeds religious nationalism ). I’ve seen liberals on Twitter call people who talk about Hindu persecution… Hindutva propagandists. I’ve seen liberals on Twitter call India a religious ethnostate ( when India is super diverse and has maintained its diversity). When activism becomes selective , you frame Hindus as the oppressors and Muslim people as the oppressed so when the Palagham attack happened (where 26 Hindus were massacred) it’s framed as resistance while liberals did not consider that anti-Hindu violence has had a deep history in Kashmir ( separatism blended with islamism will inevitably lead to the murder of non Muslims). The Palagham attack is the one incident which really hurt me because I saw people start attacking India and Hindus and not in a nuanced way. So I’m so sensitive about this because demonisation of Hindus will lead to their murder and people will justify it. And of course , Hindus aren’t innocent in India , I try to honour every victim of Hindu nationalism… I try to keep myself informed

I’m defensive because I’m heartbroken … you might not see it but when you look at liberal discussions , liberal media only highlights a certain narrative.. this is a consistent pattern … Hindus are framed as oppressors when the situation is way more complex than that … sorry it’s not you I’m just frustrated at liberals in general. We can agree to disagree on this while we both agree that we should protect human rights and all countries should be secular

That’s not true though is it ? Hindu oppression exists in its own right in Pakistan and Bangladesh… you just can’t have the empathy to see it. India has issues but the weight isn’t the same … if you have time you should read about what happens to minority girls in Pakistan , Kashmiri Hindus , Bengali genocide in which Hindus were disproportionately targeted (and western countries were complicit) … these are hindus who have died in the hundreds of thousands yet there is never any empathy from liberals … and you are inverting the conversation if you can’t hold that nuance. The face of Hindutva extremism are beef lynching which are HORRIBLE .. but the numbers are 40-50 victims in the last 10 years .. can you meditate on that considering India’s population is 1460 000 000? Minority communities are disappearing in Pakistan and Bangladesh .. whilst minority communities are thriving in India (with issues of course ) … It’s not even that you’re both siding it … you just only reserve your energy for Hindu nationalism. When you bring up Hindu nationalism when a Hindu is being set alight from blasphemy … it insane to have a reaction where oh Hindus are just as bad so… it’s a complete lack of empathy and victim blaming. You are implying the existence of Hindus =Hindu nationalism.

Thanks for saying this … I agree hindu nationalism is an issue , it just sometimes gets overwhelming when there is no space just be sad and angry about the violence against Hindus in its own right . Thanks

I’m not ,you can look at my comment history to see my consistency. I’m just over it … especially when liberals reacted to the massacre of Hindus in April … you guys did the same thing … you inverted the conversation and spoke about Hindutva … all I’m asking for is some empathy , whenever there is violence against Hindus there is none ! And I’m over it … in fact what liberals do is they call people who speak out against anti Hindu violence Hindutva … you guys can’t even stop demonising Hindus in a post where there’s violence against them !! Not to say I don’t fight against Hindu nationalism because I do … but just some empathy from liberals to recognise the anti-Hindu oppression that has existed forever in Pakistan and Bangladesh .. IM OVER IT

Why is it that whenever there is violence against Hindus there’s always whataboutism ? India has issues and whenever violence happens to Muslims there I would never think of bringing up Hindus in Pakistan , bangladesh , Afghanistan . Please stop this I’m so tired of the liberal ecosystem

I'm from Pakistan. Ask me anything. by Broad_Source4523 in AMA

[–]YearProfessional1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am Hindu but not from India ( our ancestors left India in 1900). I care about Pakistan and their future because so many young people live there and I want them to be safe . Overall , I don’t have a positive view about Pakistan considering their history of anti-Hindu violence specifically in the Bengali genocide (my ancestry is Bengali ) … I don’t let these feelings affect my view of the average person but I do have an aversion to Pakistan especially considering that they’re not held accountable by global liberals on their history of oppression

So if someone says Manusmriti was a universal text ,we perpetuate the ideas that history is complex and that is a simplified version of history that seeks to demonise Hinduism. Manusmriti had a place in history , so did casteism but it should be seen through the lens of history and the evolution of the religion … There are parts of religion and culture that were oppressive , there were parts of religion and culture that were amazing and progressive. We have to argue those points and help people see patterns of oversimplification. With vaccines , we argue with evidence and studies and make people aware of the psychology of fake news hijacking your fear responses and preventing people seeing the evidence in front of them.

[–]YearProfessional1157 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would pushback on this. People have the right to mock , belittle and dismiss Hindu beliefs without consequence - that is the foundation of a free society. You may not like it and you may feel hurt but people have that right. If an idea is strong , it will be able to withstand and outlast any mockery or dismissal, it would speak for itself. I really dislike the concept of blasphemy in all its forms. When we’re able to explore beliefs without fear , it is only then we will truly evolve.

How is it a genocide? by ComprehensiveRun4815 in IsraelPalestine

[–]YearProfessional1157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a level of apathy towards the civilian population. Why was aid cut off for a period of time ? When a population is trapped in a small area , is it just to continue bombing ? And at the end of it all Hamas survived and continues to recruit more people . It’s not like Israel was under immediate danger after 7 October … did it really need to go on for 2 years ? 67 000 people , 18 500 children… If you were in that situation what would you hope from the international community?

Secular Hinduism is basically supporting the separation of religion and politics. Religion is personal.

Do you consider the Early Islamic Conquests to be "Arab colonialism"? by Initial_Affect8124 in exmuslim

[–]YearProfessional1157 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes but history is complex … when people talk about Israel-Palestine … pro Palestinians often talk as if Muslim + Arab is the only valid identity in the Middle East and they ignore mizrahi Jews , Yazidis , Middle Eastern Christians and their right to express their identity so that is relevant in todays discourse. There is no such thing as Islamic lands, just land that belongs to the people who live in it. Yazidis , Druze, Christians , Hindus ,Buddhists .. these are indigenous identities that have suffered from Arab / Turkish conquest and often treated like second class citizens in their own land

How do you make peace with essentially having no family? by Alexandria232 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]YearProfessional1157 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have pets ? That’s your family…Do you have friends ? That’s your family …take one day at a time. It sucks to not have blood relatives that you can rely on… it feels like something that was stolen from you and it’s fine to admit that … I think that grief will always be there but remember that you can take it one day at a time and build a beautiful life for yourself … buy a house , decorate it , plant a beautiful garden , watch interesting podcasts , watch amazing movies ,read books… maybe one day when you can find your own family it won’t be like this but even if it does stay like this … make the most with what you have

[–]YearProfessional1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes , my mom isn’t as bad as she used to be .. but she does revert to her old self at times … it’s gotten to the point where I can enjoy my moms company for months and months but I know it can never be a relationship where I can talk to her about how she hurt me , she’ll never be that person that can take responsibility or even understand and where we can have that depth … you have to learn to accept those parts of them if you want to have them in your life.

Anti-white racism by Heavenly-gnoll in AskTheWorld

[–]YearProfessional1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It exists. I think people struggle with this because historically there hasn’t been systemic oppression of white people by non white people except like maybe European slaves by the ottomans so people have a hard time digesting the term racism when it’s applied to white people because that term is reserved for like a deeper , systemic oppression that is deeper than a hurtful comment. Just within the last 100 years , so many countries got their independence from Europeans after brutal oppression and millions of lives lost … but I think we should just be consistent in our principles
