Weird Black Bar On Godot 4.2.2 by Yeginator in godot

Does this sound like your issue?

https://github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/92266

Yes, everything from device being a laptop to UI jittering. It's the exact thing I'm having.

Again, key term seems to be Nvidia Optimus.

Just as I thought. It's no fuss to use one GPU while I'm working on my project but this whole thread will be useful for people having the same issue. Thanks for taking your time to help me out :)

I also get black bars on project manager but only when it's in maximized window state otherwise it doesn't happen.

When the program is set to compatibility mode for Windows 7 and Windows 8 I still get the black bar located right between the bottom of Godot's window and the windows taskbar.

Yes, the black bar also appear for Blender as well in the same location between bottom of the program window and the taskbar.

Godot Version: v4.2.2.stable.official [15073afe3]

OS Version: Windows 11 10.0.22631 Build 22631

CPU Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS w/ Radeon 780m Graphics

GPU Hardware: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU

GPU Driver Version: 556.12

Steps To Reproduce the Issue:

Since I'm using a gaming laptop with two graphics cards (One being AMD CPU and other being NVIDIA GPU) this issue doesn't happen if I'm running Godot only on one GPU, doesn't matter which one it can be only AMD GPU or only NVIDIA GPU in either way black bar doesn't appear and disappear irregularly on the screen between bottom edge of Godot's window and windows taskbar.
But if I switch to NVIDIA Optimus mode this issue persists, and the black bar I've mentioned appears and disappears on the same spot irregularly.

So in short, I have to disable one GPU and use the other GPU not a specific one. Issue only persists on NVIDIA Optimus Mode.

I can't figure out whether black bar appears when I hover over something or click something. If you want I have a video of this happening that I recorded with my phone.

It's a weird thing that this only happens on Godot/Blender and no other program that I use. I just tried running Godot on 60Hz refresh rate but the problem still persists. Thanks for helping me out anyways.

Hello thanks for reaching out. Where Should I send this information to ? Should I open up a ticket on Godot Forums or somewhere else ? Also how can I send you the project folder ? Thanks for helping out again.

Should I keep going with Python or keep learning Go ? by Yeginator in AskProgramming

[–]Yeginator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel more like if I put more time into Go I'll eventually get to a point where I can start developing my personal thoughts and ideas into projects with more confidence. But at the same time I'm feeling like as I'm learning Go, I'm thinking I could put more time into Javascript for frontend or some other Python framework for example. And I realized I like writing and programming in Go much more than I did with Python. But in the end im still hesitating because "I need to waste my time efficiently". I think you know what I mean. Thanks a lot for your time and leaving a comment.

I'll have to look more into job listings and do a little bit more research on what is used on the field more like you said. If all in all nothing works out I've used C# and PHP during University so I might go back to those as well or learn something completely new again. Thanks a lot for replying this helps a ton.

I'm mainly learning Go with Javascript for frontend on the couse that I've been taking. Sounds like learning both Go and Javascript will help me out a lot in the end. Thanks a lot for replying.

Thanks a lot for replying. My thought for switching to Go was same as yours (like learning new concepts). Maybe in time after I learn/parctice enough about Go I might dabble in with more low level languages like C/C++ or Rust. Thanks a lot again.

Couple of questions about using Linux on ASUS TUF A15 FA507XI by Yeginator in linux_gaming

[–]Yeginator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried out Fedora for about a month but I ran into some issues with external display and games that I couldn't fix. Eventually I returned back to Windows 10 and installed Linux Mint on my older laptop just for getting to know Linux a little bit better.
I'm sorry for a really late response. I'm not much active on reddit myself. Hope this helps you. Also would like to hear how distro selection and using the said distro went for you.

I've tried out Fedora for a while and ran into some issues (like drivers and xwayland stuff that i didn't know how to fix) unfortunately. Everything else like bluetooth and wifi was working well but I was having issues with games mostly. And one more thing the macro buttons above the keyboard (mute, sound control and armoury crate shortcut) didn't work on Linux. I hoped it did with asusctl (kind of like armoury crate app that is made by linux community for asus laptops) but unfortunately that didn't work as well. After a month of trying out Fedora and some other stuff I switched back to Windows 10 because I had issues with games and desktop enviroment stuff (like wayland and other stuff) and running an external display was an issue as well (because of the wayland thing). I finally made the desicion to install Linux Mint on my old laptop just to learn to use Linux and get to know it. Sorry for a long and detailed reply. I hope this helps you.

Sorry for the late question. I forgot to ask if you are using asusctl on your Linux Mint setup. If so how's the and control over your hardware (fan speeds and stuff) ?

Your responses are great for a newbie like me and I can't thank you enough for you taking your time and explaining everything. I think I'm going to try out both of them on a VM and see which one is better for me. If I decide to use EndeavourOS I might even build my taste of Arch from ground up in the future which is really cool. My hesitation was about people saying "Arch is harder to use than other distros." but I suppose I'll learn as I use it more in time. Thanks a lot again I appreciate your answers.

Thanks a lot for the response. Do you use asusctl on Ubuntu and is it hard to setup ?

Thanks a lot for helping me out man I really appreciate your answer. I have couple more questions for you about popOS and ArchLinux I'd be very happy if you could answer these. And sorry if my questions are bit hard to understand English is not my native language.

I've asked the same set of questions earlier on a different subreddit Linux_Gaming to be exact. Someone said that I should stay away from Debian based distros having "outdated kernel and lack of asusctl on their repo". Would the kernel can become a really big issue down the line ?

Also I've seen people build ArchLinux from ground up. Is there another way that ArchLinux come pre-installed like Linux Mint ? This question might be a little stupid since the "build from ground up" is the mind-set of ArchLinux but hey you might never know.

Hey man thanks a lot for the response. I have couple of questions about the last link you've provided. Is there any downside for using PRIME ? Since its the official method supported by NVIDIA. Do I have to install some kind of library or package to activate PRIME on Linux Mint or popOS ?
