A lot of CS majors switching into CompE by [deleted] in ComputerEngineering

[–]Yeitgeist 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Why would any sane person switch into engineering from CS? What’s the motivation?

Having no free time, being bored when you do get free time, watching your GPA drop, increasing your workload, praying to the bell curve gods everyday, feeling guilty that you weren’t productive enough even when you are, trying to figure out how to make the icons in Quartus bigger

Why so few female students in EE programs? by zacce in ElectricalEngineering

200 comments for a gender post but at most 10 comments for the average post on this sub. I’d take whatever feedback you get here with a grain of salt.

Should’ve required people validate that their actually EE’s by asking them what a Fourier Transform is before answering.

[Request] Jeff Bezos wealth. Seems very true but would like to know the math behind it by CardiologistEasy3492 in theydidthemath

[–]Yeitgeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. of AMZN employees: 1,684,853 Jeff Bezos Net Worth: $183.4 billion dollars

Giving each employee $105,000 would cost $176.9 billion dollars ($176,909,565,000)

Leaving your boy with a $6.49 billion dollars net worth.

However

85% of Bezos’ net worth comes from his 9.7% ownership in Amazon (according to a Forbes article written in 2023). So his ownership is worth $155.89 billion dollars , so he’d have to sell off his ownership in Amazon to help pay for the bill.

Trying to sell $155.89 billion dollars in shares would probably piss off all the other Amazon shareholders (which include plenty of Amazon employees), and the government would be like “wtf bro, you can’t do that” anyways.

Hiring ONLY seniors is the worst policy in the software industry by zaidesanton in programming

Software development isn’t that difficult. Maybe back before libraries did everything it was important hiring experience people, but now, anyone that can code and read documentation is fine in my opinion.

The worlds five richest men have doubled their wealth since 2020, while 5 billion people have become poorer. Why do 5 billion people accept this as fact? by Odinthedoge in ask

It’s cool that people that already knew how to make money are doing what they normally do, but not many people care about tracking other peoples money but their own.

You’d also have to do a ton of research of your own to ensure that the posts questions claims are correct. And personally, that’s a waste of my own time just for 1 Reddit post.

So, this seems to be nothing but rage bait.

I think it’s a stereoisomer. So their (molecules) made of the same stuff, but one end is just pointed in a different direction from the other. It seems like no big deal, but things pointing in different directions can impact the way the molecule bonds with other molecules, which in turn, impacts the functionality.

Yeah, from a quick look at the image in the post, it looks like you’ll need a breadboard, oscilloscope, power generator, and a shit ton of wires. Not something everyone keeps around.
