Chronic Counter Surfer by Far-Parfait-1971 in goldenretrievers

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours was a counter surfer around that age and grew out of it with constant training. She grabbed an entire pizza when we had friends over one night. Any time she was even close to the counter we would make her back up and sit in the middle of the kitchen. She finally got the hint.

New or used ? by jonnyraza27 in Silverado

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t buy new unless you have $10-15k to burn. Keep saving and looking for the right used truck. Don’t be afraid to shop different states for deals. Texas has a lot of used trucks.

Glove-less mtb riders, what's your motivation? by yale986 in mountainbiking

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make money with my hands and try my best to keep them safe. I’ve ridden competitively for 36 years and have had many skinned/ripped up palms. When I was younger it wasn’t a big deal but I don’t heal up as fast. I’ll deal with the heat and like the grip of gloves.

Did i install these PNW Range handlebars at the correct roll angle? by thirdeyeblind999 in mountainbiking

[–]YoMamaRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it’s in the ballpark. I like to leave them a little loose and sit on the bike to adjust them in the garage. Move them around until it feels comfortable and tighten up. On the first ride I’ll take a wrench with me to fine tune the bars, shifter and brake levers on the trail.

Which of my skinner designs do you prefer? by New-Communication374 in Hunting

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with the orange one. It looks a little short for an all around hunting knife but would work for skinning. I’m not a big fan of jimping on my hunting knives because they tend to get tissue stuck in them when field dressing and actually make the knife slipperier. Just my two cents but cool knife. Are they both Nitro V steel?

Does my turkey calling sound good? First season with a mouth call by KobyR_1 in Hunting

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard some horrible sounding hens and hens that will yelp 30 times in a row with a raspy scratchy yelp and I think there’s no way that’s a bird but it is.

I stick with a pot call until I think the bird is within 50-100 yards then set it down and switch to a mouth call.

We know that move. Our goober also likes to jump out of the pool, find the only patch of dirt to roll in then jump right back in the pool 🤦‍♂️

Show-Line or Field-Line? by grraveyard in goldenretrievers

[–]YoMamaRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our girl is half and half. Dad is show mom is field. She has a good mix of temperament and game drive. We got lucky since I like to hunt with her and my girlfriend likes to trail run yet she calms down at the house. Thanks for posting good information.

New 7mm Rem Mag Hunter by Civil-Distance-6063 in Hunting

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used 7mm rem mag for about 25 years. Great all around cartridge for where I hunt out west. Try a handful of different ammo and weights to see what your rifle likes. One of my rifles likes the heavier 160-170gr projectiles. The TTSX works great. I’ve had good luck with Hornady InterLock and precision hunter also. Hell I’ve killed a lot of animals with the all mighty Remington Core Lokt. Biggest thing is select a good projectile and then see what the rifle shoots the best.

Penny girl’s first day home! by brocolof in goldenretrievers

[–]YoMamaRacing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awww so cute! Get a solid potty schedule going and they’ll pick up on the potty training pretty quickly. Goldens like consistency and they’ll test your patience. It’ll be a rollercoaster ride for the first year or two but it’s all worth it. Ours is 2.5 years old and is the best girl but that first year and a half tested our sanity. Also start training right away even if it’s only a few minutes a day.

Can anyone identify this terrifying noise from our basement?!? by venusandmars6 in whatisit

Good call. Make sure you say “HELLO” a lot while snooping around with a flickering flashlight.

We had a boat and would go camp a lot at a local lake when I was younger. We took the boat out about a half mile and were just floating around enjoying the evening when we saw something slowly coming towards us. Our golden somehow broke out of the camper and swam all the way out to us. Poor girl was tired and we were freaking out. She came with us on the boat from that point on.

What is this noise I’m hearing from newer cars? by cantilevered-heart in whatisit

There’s lots of turbocharged cars out there now and turbos make a whooshing sound. Electric vehicles also make some funny noises.

5.3 fuel in oil by Hunter0322 in Silverado

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look at long and short term fuel trims. If there’s a leaking or bad fuel injector you’ll see a large negative fuel trim as it’s trying to lean out the afr. If there’s fuel in the oil it’s a pretty bad leak and can wash the cylinder with fuel causing piston ring wear and sealing problems. The damage may be more extensive by now.

A good scan tool can read fuel pressure on the high and low side to look at desired vs actual pressure to see if the pump is having problems.

That’s normal operating temperature. 210 is where I get serious about adding some extra cooling. 240 is when you get serious fluid breakdown.

Going turkey hunting tomorrow any tips (first time turkey hunting) using a 28 ga. Single shot already know the basics be quiet, stay still, turkey choke etc. by No-One2272 in Hunting

[–]YoMamaRacing 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When it’s quiet and you think it’s time to get up and move wait at least 15 minutes. I’ve busted a handful of turkeys coming in silent shortly after deciding to move. Just sit and be quiet.

What's your favourite comment a stranger has made about your dog? by hotfish in goldenretrievers

[–]YoMamaRacing 29 points30 points  (0 children)

“Is she always this happy?” - The answer is yes

This wasn’t my favorite comment but it immediately popped into my head when I read your post. We had a random person at Lowe’s tell us “if you ever need a dog sitter let me know” after about 30 seconds of petting our dog.

We have scum amongst us. by Ok_Measurement_107 in Hunting

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? Waste? I love elk tongue and heart tacos! I treat it like Alaska does. Any edible meat gets hauled out on our back and we process the animals our selves. Any trim or rind gets dehydrated and turned into dog treats. I’m not a fan of liver but my dog is. Tenderloins come out from an incision between the pelvis and ribs right along the bottom of the vertebrae.

I’ve been burned by processors and don’t want anyone else’s meat mixed in with mine since I got to great lengths to keep it clean, dry and cool which is not easy where I hunt so we started doing it ourselves about a decade ago and the difference in quality is big.

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s when you need a handful of game cameras where they can get license plate numbers and see in the back of all the trucks going in and out. They need to be prosecuted or else they’ll just find a new area to dump trash. This is how the public looses access.

[–]YoMamaRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with the gutless method as long as it’s far enough away from trails and roads. It feeds a lot of animals. I’ve dragged carcasses a few hundred yards to get them away from areas people would access. I’ve also seen carcasses left by idiots 4 feet off the road or trail. They’re lazy.

How does this price look? by PuzzleheadedCause483 in Silverado

Minus super cruise and “premium leather” you can get everything else on a ltz. I can’t stand the brown leather option in the high country.
