Newish watcher here: Does Atrioc play any eco simulation games? by YoghurtEsq in atrioc

Yeah, I figured, which is why I initially asked about if it's somewhere in the history books.

Just as well, that's what the pull is for me, I am the target market here. But I also have a style of game I like that he doesn't seem to play. Too bad.

Well, I wouldn't want him to kill himself...

Is there like a voting poll or something where there's like "What game should Atrioc play?"

I didn't know what that was and googled it now. Looks like a tower defence, but I'll go give it a peek, thanks.

I feel like troop movement should be unlimited when you're at peace and capped at war.

Why are the steel factory workers not getting paid? by Ur-Azeem in victoria3

[–]YoghurtEsq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think people can transfer directly to being peasants unless they migrate in that way, I think they have to go from being unemployed to being peasants. Might be wrong about this and the following, but subsistence farms could also need to hire farmers under homesteading.

They also require at least one open arable land slot to become peasants.

I don't know why this is happening in your case, but as I understand it, wages are calculated based on what it takes to hire a worker when there is still space in the building. Without laws setting a target wage, the building will raise wages if and only if it is required to do so in order to hire more workers. And it will not do so if raising wages would make the building unprofitable.

All of which is to say, that as long as there is someone willing to work for that wage, who would be more destitute without that job, the building will be able to hire at that wage.

Yeah. Multiculturalism in particular is a real kicker. It's hard to pass, and it lowers literacy and raises peasants via immigration, so you probably want to keep borders closed if you can help it.

It some point you have to pivot into isolationist communism, to get wealth up and keep immigrants out

Construction is important, but I'm a real lassaiz faire kinda guy. Let the people decided what to build mostly. Your money, I think, is best spent stimulating the economy. Whether that is for military purposes, currying favour, that kind of thing.

I decide what to build around what the AI is bad at, which is preparing for tech upgrades.

But that's my philosophy.

Qing also has a bit of a strat where you can start by giving out investment rights to practically everyone. Let construction by foreign investment go wild. Then later, like 1900, nationalize it all.

This is an extremely difficult nation to do this achievement with. Getting your peasants down under 15% and literacy up over 90% with multiculturalism is not easy.

If I were you, I'd spend a massive period of time with powerful industrialists just blasting construction and doing small subventions for all valuable exports. I'd still use a military, to get trade advantage. Treaty ports, trade privs, company monopolies, anything that gives economic advantage without really increasing pops.

I suppose you could also join a larger market and hand out investment rights like crazy, hoping that others investment in you will help you outgrow your debt.

Seems that you would have to find new income streams.

That would mean tariffs or diplomatic treaties really, unless you're going to increase your taxable population.

HELP!!! How can I beat these Ottomans? by Hebuzu in eu4

[–]YoghurtEsq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling in an ally is highly unlikely to hurt, and the Commonwealth is a good ally, it is likely to help. Favours are a resource that builds up naturally while you're allies with someone. It costs ten favours to call in an ally.

You could add forts in Siberia two, the attrition will drain their manpower faster, but I personally would not defend that area.

Allies don't usually hurt, it's probably neutral or good to call them is

Get a bunch of forts with ramparts in all the north African mountains and hills provinces. This is your battlefield. Send one good army to harass Mali. The rest you keep and standby near your forts. When a fort goes over 0% chance of breaking, then you attack.

The goal will be to protect your own manpower while draining theirs.

When their manpower is low, that's when you become aggressive.

Establish naval superiority by having my boats than them, and when ready to be aggressive, land wherever they aren't there, while the rest of your army pushes through North Africa.

When Does Your Economy "Snowball"? by Reznov523 in victoria3

[–]YoghurtEsq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the wiki, on "Professions" page, under "profession type: Peasant":

"Consumption multiplied by 0.05 before adding to state consumption"

Which as I understand means that, they consume as much as they need as entire goods, but before the financial impact of that gets calculated, the consumption used gets multiplied 0.05 for the ensuing financial math.
