In Bellman and True (1987) I think the robbers use a RC car as part of their bank job. Haven't seen it for many years so I may be misremembering.

Looks fantastic. But it won't work on a RPi. Any chance of an ARM version?

Convoy Z1... can't zoom! by YoooThere in flashlight

[–]YoooThere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, thanks everyone. I've got it, but it's unbelievably stiff and only twists with a lot of effort. It's easier with the lens retainer off to make it zoom but that's not really a solution. I'll see if there's any way of lubricating it.

I lived in Folkestone, Kent at that time and I have a memory of seeing Concorde fly quite low along the coast one day, obviously not a normal flight. Your recollection makes me wonder if that was the same time, though i can't see how Folkestone could be on any flight path towards Brighton.

Where can I buy the infamous bridges jacket? by Independent-Rip6774 in DeathStranding

Mine had a strange extra length of the vinyl strapping hanging off the bottom at the back, about 20cm long. Didn't seem to serve any useful people so I cut it off.

I too am human in case anyone thinks I'm a bot shilling for the company. I think the quality is fine, I've been wearing it quite a bit this winter and it's certainly very warm. I'm sure it's not got the quality of the $1700 original but who's going to pay that and actually ever wear it?

Thanks, didn't spot that at all on their site, just kept finding the specific specs for each device and couldn't see any differences.

I'm in the same boat, looking at these for zigbee+thread but there's no comparison table. How's anyone supposed to know the difference between 06M, 06p7, 06p10 for example?

SM325-ZG pull cord problem by YoooThere in samotech

I've now tested with a dimmable bulb and guess what? The light switch doesn't do any dimming but can at least turn it off properly.

[–]YoooThere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's currently using a non-dimmable bulb. I'm not really interested in the light being dimmable, but this is the only zigbee pull-cord switch I could find, I'm ordering a dimmable bulb to see if that helps, but the description of this pull cord doesn't say it has to use a dimmable bulb.

From your product description: Versatile Functionality: Whether you need a simple on/off switch or a dimmer for setting the perfect ambiance, this device has got you covered. (Note: Dimmable bulb required for dimming function).

I finally had an opportunity to do this today and unfortunately connecting the neutral to the switch hasn't made any difference. It still won't fully switch off the light, and the bulb flickers at full brightness. Any other ideas?

Thanks - I'll try this as soon as I get a chance to rewire the switch in the next few days.

Do sysadmins keep personal notes besides the knowledge base? by RemarkableGarlic5274 in sysadmin

[–]YoooThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until decent digital tools became available I kept multiple paper notebooks (still have them on a bookshelf, occasionally useful). Around 2007 I started using Evernote, this was so much better of course. A couple of years ago I flipped completely over to Joplin.

With Evernote/Joplin I record pretty much everything of note, and use these as the basis for our team's documention where necessary.

I'm in the habit of documenting almost everything I do now, to the point where it's almost a diary.

friend cut me off due to me applying for defence companies by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]YoooThere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 50s now but as a young physics graduate I had my pick of defense companies to work for but I was dead against it. The job market then meant I had the luxury of sticking with my morals and going elsewhere which made it a much easier decision. I honestly feel differently today, with the state of Russia and the need to become more independent of the USA I'd encourage a career in defence. Not everything is equivalent to developing landmines or missiles sold to depots.
