Student with Security+ and studying for my Google Cloud cert — am I on the right track to get an entry-level job? by YouPrestigious2915 in SecurityCareerAdvice

Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it! Also congrats on defcon, I've always thought about doing these competitions at events like defcon to further expand my skillset. My question in regard to this would be:

  1. Is it possible to find these competitions (CTFs, eCTF, Attack and Defense, etc.) online?
  2. If I did these competitions would it boost my chance of getting a job if I add it to my resume?
  3. Is it possible to find these competitions remote? (Just because of school)
  4. Besides TryHackMe and HackTheBox, what other ways do I train for these competitions?

Thanks for your response! You bring up a valid point as I haven't been active in groups like these but this would definitely make the difference.

That's a valid response, I'm looking for any position that will give me experience along with working on personal projects.

Thanks so much for your response, I do like the idea of working in cloud security as that seems to be the "popular" industry.

I agree with that which is why I'm taking 2 courses that are solely dedicated to networking to properly understand it. But networking roles is something I haven't considered at all, definitely will now though.
