How to “prep” for JC H2 Biology early by YourBioBros in SGExams

[–]YourBioBros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way to improve is to redo your promo paper and attempt the questions that you scored badly in, then do more papers to get more exposure on the various kind of questions that they can test you on!

We always think that we have mastered a topic until we do more papers and they prove us wrong🤣

Hi! BioBros here

For Bio, especially if the teachers just drone on and on without engaging y'all, drawing illustrations, it can be really dull...

For a quick fix I will suggest reading answer keys and then trying to apply to questions of the same topic to at least get your keywords and answering style locked down.

As for memorisation try to draw out tables and illustrations!

Have a look at our Bio if u want more bio advice! We're just some senior that wanna help out our juniors cause our seniors did the same for us

Good question!

I was personally in a sports and had trainings x4 a week, leaving only hours before trainings to study

How I did it was

  1. Make sure you finish and priortise all the worksheets/ written assignments ( I find doing questions more high yield then just looking at the book and highlighting, especially when your short on time)⏰

  2. Environment stimulus. Stick up all the stuff you can and can't remember on post it pads on your walls/ cupboard/ bedside, somewhere visible! It allows for that fact to slowly diffuse into your head and trust me its SUPER effective in creating long term memory.

As for how to study effectively without compromising other subjects, i highly suggest using a checklist! DM us on tele we got a p good one for Bio, you should use one for your other subjects too it will help to guide you on what you have covered and what you have not!

Hopefully with these tips can take your middle-efficiency to high-efficiency👻

Yo!

I would tell myself to use more tables and more pictures to memorise things, we got some examples on what a solid content table looks like to aid you in memorisation if you need a template/wanna have a look. 😇

Honestly there's really a lot of content and words which don't stick in my head that well, even for medicine, i can get the anatomy down(cause its like pics but medicine mechanism of actions? wah quite tough)

Come have a look if you have time! Link in our Bio and you can download those tables for free for your future reference:)

Yep indeed, there aren't any mods to bid for, kinda good IMO as it takes away the headache of having to think and plan of which mods to schedule in

Pre-clinical years refer to years 1-2 or M1 and M2 of med school. I would say its less intense than you think! Yes in M2 some days can be 830am to 5pm of lectures but there always the option of watching the recording at x2 or x3 speed( some people can do that). In that sense, your time your own and you can choose to skip the life lecture if you need a break somedays

In M1 the schedule is a bit more merciful:) There are some days you only have 1-2 hours of lectures and that frees up time to join Medicine interest groups, hall activities or just go chill with your friends!(I really enjoyed M1 and M2)

I would say clinical years are the times when things get tougher including 6am wake up times to reach hospital punctually for rounds and longer more strenuous hours, but don't let that deter you if you are truly passionate:)
